Just a little bit of optimism for the day... While there may be some work generation issues, I note that the project GFlops is approaching 400K, which is the highest I remember ever seeing it, so we're going in the right direction. Hurray for the new server! :-) |

I don't know if it was the new server or what but I am receiving messages saying I can no longer do milkyway math with my current settings. I guess I will have to delete this program and add on another. I have enjoyed it!! Good luck to you all! |

What other gpu projects are you crunching? What is your percentage per project setting? What kind of gpu? How many gpu's? |

Thank you Sir! You wake me up...i checked everything again...and find...my ressources standing on "---" instead "100" or "200" for example. Now i set it to "150" and get 140 WU's for my GPU's for cooking. Sometime i am a big assh... |

Thank you Sir! Actually I think it is the complexities of Boinc that cause the problems we users have, they try to make it too complicated to solve every single detail!!! I am just glad you are back up and crunching again!!! |

How in the heck do I get my GPU to do more than one work unit at a time? |

How in the heck do I get my GPU to do more than one work unit at a time? Copy and paste the lines below into Notepad, and save the file as app_info.xml into the MW Project Directory. (its for AMD cards only, dont use it with NVidia cards, different file names needed) <app_info> <app> <name>milkyway</name> </app> <file_info> <name>milkyway_separation_0.82_windows_x86_64__ati14.exe</name> <executable/> </file_info> <app_version> <app_name>milkyway</app_name> <version_num>82</version_num> <flops>1.0e11</flops> <avg_ncpus>0.05</avg_ncpus> <max_ncpus>1</max_ncpus> <plan_class>ati14ati</plan_class> <coproc> <type>ATI</type> <count>0.5</count> </coproc> <file_ref> <file_name>milkyway_separation_0.82_windows_x86_64__ati14.exe</file_name> <main_program/> </file_ref> </app_version> </app_info> Thats it - basicly. A few things to get it to run properly .... - Always empty the PC MW cache of WUs BEFORE you run BOINC with that file in the directory. If you dont, you will trash every WU in there on startup. - When doing this for the first few times - until you are used to app_info files, always make sure that cache preferences are set to zero - that way if anything goes wrong on startup you dont trash WUs both in the cache and as a runaway. - Double check it works fine before walking away ... obvious maybe, but real important with app_info's to make sure its not just sitting there trashing files. - When the cache is empty, close BOINC, make sure the app_info is in the MW Project Directory, and restart BOINC. It should pickup the aPP_info automatically. - The card(s) will now have two WUs per card, dont try more than two, its a waste of time and effort, two per is the max you should run. The Cards are now doing more work, you may have to adjust the GPU setting and/or voltage (if you have overvolted), so watch closely first time round to see what adjustments you might need. - When its settled and you are happy, reset the preferences cache level, and your done. Any issues, post on the Number Crunching Forum. (If you get dramas, delete the app_info, abort any MW WUs in there, close BAM, restart BAM and you are back to square one) Regards Zy |

I'm running a ATI 5880 which I believe only has one GPU. After getting my 20 work units, 6 minutes later I got another 16. I had to go into preferences and turn off GPU work before who knows how many more may have flooded my machine. This has happened once before; any ideas? By the way, they're all running just fine on the latest AMD catalyst version 12.1. |

That isn't really a lot; a 58xx should burn through one in 1-2 minutes on average. |

By the way, they're all running just fine on the latest AMD catalyst version 12.1. Just on a side note: CAL is still broken in 12.1 for HD4xxx cards (and has been since 11.11) - looks like AMD really doesn't care. Starfire |

I tried to install the app that would cause my gpu(s) to run two work units, but with my ATI 7970's, they are still just one per. Any suggestions? |
