Hi, just noticed all newly downloaded work units are failing after about a second of running with the error "Computational Error"?

Any ideas

They appear to be running ok on other machines - suspect something may have changed at your end.

Any updates just completed ? ...

Have a look at anti-virus to check that the MW directory (and others including BOINC Data directory for that matter) are on the exceptions list.

Post again if still happening - always someone around who will pick up an issue

G'Day mark,
I have just run some test work units and found my reliable machine was giving the same errors as you are getting.
A Reset did not work.
A detach/reattach did not work (I did this twice).
A Reboot of the computer actually got things working again, so if you haven't done this it could be worth a try.

(My other computer with same software and graphic cards has no problem (although it did give a BSOD with Milkyway running).

Stopped boinc and repaired it but still get :

http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/result.php?resultid=99049735

even on the machine which had it xp32 replaced by xp64 and fresh install of drivers 266.58 and boinc 6.10.60, so MW@H is exit for the moment.

Apparently you need newer drivers for the new one. I raised the Nvidia driver requirement to 280.xx; I think you should now still get the old one if your drivers are older than that now.

And which are stable enough for MW@H and other boinc projects.

I believe it should work if you try 1.02 with your current drivers. My workaround for the Nvidia problem seems to have worked.

Message 53122 - Posted: 12 Feb 2012, 23:43:11 UTC

Since the change I too am getting this error. I have completely removed and reinstalled BOINC to the latest version 6.12.34. I'm running Windows 7 x64 with the latest ATi drivers on a 6950 (unlocked to 6970).

This problem just began, but I have been running with this configuration prior to the change in the files being downloaded.

I don't do this all the time, and just run the program when I'm at my computer with some spare time/cycles to kill. Help would be appreciated, but I don't have time to site and mess with custom configuration XML file building and a bunch of other crap. I don't mind contributing to the project, but I need an application I can install, attach to the project, and have it work like it should.

Thanks

It seems it's OK at the moment, now I'm having Collatz-problems with that specific card (can't find mem-errors) ?????, and I let that card crunch on MW@H for a while.

I was experiencing issue with the catalyst 12.1 drivers.

BOINC would report no compatible GPU for my unlocked 6950.

Had to downgrade drivers to 11.9 and run the 1.02 app_info.xml from Arkayn, to get it to run GPU tasks.

12.1 is not all that stable I would get crashes in several of my game with it as well.

I have had about 15 work units with the Compute error of 1 (0x1) Unknown error number, but at the same time on the same machine I have over 300 that are valid during the same time.

Well, I guess that puts me out of M@H until they fix this. My system, games included, have been rock solid with the 21.1 drivers and I just don't don't feel like downgrading drivers and messing with custom XML files to run this project.

You can get the previous and actual version on arkayn's site. They include an app_info.xml.
Stop boinc, unpack them into your mw directory and start boinc again.
If you need help modifying that app_info, post again with your question.

After approx 01.00 UTC all 0.82 (ati14) GPU tasks deadline dated 27/2/2012 02:03++ failed with computation error.
All remaining unstarted GPU tasks have been aborted.
The option for no new tasks is initiated.

Please advise.
