A few weeks ago, we ran double credits in order to make up for a database error that occurred earlier in 2011. Unfortunately, the server crashed with just 12 hours left until the make-up credits were finished. Now that the new server is up and running (and stable! very stable!), and everyone here is back from travels and winter break, we are ready to finish running those last 12 hours of double make-up credits. If there are no significant objections, we'll run the double credits on St. Valentine's Day (February 14), from 10:00 am until 10:00 pm, US Eastern time (EST). This corresponds to 3pm (Feb14)-3am (Feb15) UTC. Happy crunching! |

Only 12h? This is kind of a joke... Robert-this is finishing the remainder of a promise we made awhile back. 12 hours is the remainder of what we owe the users. |

Only 12h? This is kind of a joke... Hey I am just glad you told us when it was going to happen. You could have just done it and said 'the last 12 hours was the time we did the payback' leaving us part-time crunchers out in the cold!! Now EVERYONE will be here getting double credits, which should be a good test for your new Server!! Which is looking good BTW!!!!! |

Yea, word got around the last time and crash the server again. I'm guessing it won't this time and we can see how much load it can handle ... Hopefully. Doesn't expecting the unexpected make the unexpected the expected? If it makes sense, DON'T do it. |

I hope the temporary 0.82 CAL reactivation holds until this day ^^ DSKAG Austria Research Team: http://www.research.dskag.at |

Only 12h? This is kind of a joke... Double Credit is not a fully gift here. Its the rest of an 2 day Double Credit-Excuse because the old server was very often offline (unfortunally the last 12h of these 2 days too) to hold on the RAC a little bit.. I hope the temporary 0.82 CAL reactivation holds until this day ^^ me too. i tried updating to v1.02 a few days ago and got computation errors immediately. so i reverted back to the tried and true v0.82 in hopes that they'll leave it active through the Valentine's Day bonus...in fact i hope they leave it active through next weekend since i probably won't have time to mess around with driver and project application updates until then... |

Only 12h? This is kind of a joke... Sarcastic Mode On: Actually it is a Joke, just what Scientific Formula did the Project use to determine what was Owed the Users as the Project puts it ??? I'd like to know so I can bring it up at other Projects that Owe the Users for being down since one Project thinks it Owes the Users for being down. Actually the Formula needs to be revised Upward if your going to Pay the Double Credits for being Down. More like about 6 Month's to a Year of Double Credits would be more realistic since the Project goes down for days if not weeks at a time. Also do we need to give back the Credits we got from the other projects while the Milkyway Project is down, I really need to know because I wouldn't want to feel like I Owed the Projects for Credit I got from them while MW was down & now am going to reap Double Credits on top of it. Sarcastic Mode Off: Really isn't that what BOINC is all about, 1 Project goes down you move on to another Project & continue onward with your Crunching or hasn't anyone figured that out yet :P ... If I rember right when it went down initially the database was corupted and hadn't been backed up in a couple days so a lot of work & credits were lost and could not be recovered. When the makeup days were scheduled the server was still in crappy mode and couldn't handle the double or triple load of requests for work. This isn't making up for the days/weeks the project goes down or that would be more like double credit months. Doesn't expecting the unexpected make the unexpected the expected? If it makes sense, DON'T do it. |

Yes, these double credits are make up credits for a database error awhile ago that caused users to lose earned credits - about 48 hours worth. We tried running the make up double credits last year, but the old server couldn't handle the increased load and died (hard) about 36 hours in. We wanted to wait to run the remaining 12 hours until we had the new server, and had it running long enough to know that it is stable. So, they're running now. :) Happy Crunching! |

If that's the cast then whatever, wish you guys (Dev's) would have been around at the start of BOINC when we crunched for Month's at SETI without a single Credit because of Validator problems, never once was there any attempt to make up the Credits which counting for Inflation would be Millions today ... hahaha ;) STE\/E |
