Thanks! Although it appears the 100 work units I had just dissapeared. Do you have one that allows the milkyway@home n-body simulation to work as well? 3/25/2012 8:37:48 AM | Milkyway@Home | Message from server: Your app_info.xml file doesn't have a usable version of MilkyWay@Home N-Body Simulation. |

I don't run n-body so I cannot help you there. I get that message too and I just ignore it. Don't worry about completed work units, you'll get credit. If they were not complete, they will be sent out again. |

K Thanks for your help, I'll have to do some digging. My goal is to use my CPU for the n-body simulation, and my GPUs to run 4 of the separation tasks(2 per GPU) for maximum efficiency. They were completing 4 gpu work units in 120 seconds. |

That's just like mine, except for this line: <version_num>102</version_num> <plan_class>ati14</plan_class> I don' think it's needed, though. MrS Scanning for our furry friends since Jan 2002 |

I am in the process of installing a Sapphire HD 6790 GPU on my #1 PC AMD Phenom II X6 1090T, running @ 3.8 GHz. I hope to begin crunching Milky Way tasks on Monday 26 March 2012. Can't wait. HD 6790 does not have double precision capability required for MilkyWay@Home. |

Thanks, funny, but AMD says it does have double precision. No matter, I will use it on other projects |

It's not on the MilkyWay "GPU Requirements" thread list and is a Barts LE similar to the Barts Pro and XT of the HD 68xx cards which also don't support double precision. You can see on page 7 here where AMD states HD 6790 does not support double precision. |

Otherwise check the Comparison of AMD graphics processing units page at Wikipedia. Using that page is how I chose to buy an AMD/ATI HD6950 for MilkyWay. The longer I live, the more reasons I develop for wanting to die. |

Or did you mean HD6970 instead of HD6790? Confusing.. but they're totally different beasts. The former has DP and is quite a MW-monster. MrS Scanning for our furry friends since Jan 2002 |
