I cleared this thread out, it was getting huge. Things should be working now. Tell me if they arent.

All good now ...just hard getting work as expected and validator must be backed up as everything went to pending but server shows 0 waiting to be validated?

It only updates the server status page every 10 minutes. You'll see there is quite a backup right now. The server will get it down though. :) We just need more storage space. I have a meeting with the administration at 1pm here (about 15 minutes). I'm going to bring that up.

forgive the fresh paint on me....yes...I'm that new to milkyway (but not new to boinc). Do you have it set up on the back end to purge and delete the work that's already been assimilated and written to the master science database? Most project purge the hard drives of this old useless data (if it's useless in your case) to free up hd space. I see one of my quads with 7312 wus files and I've only been here just over a week, so maybe you do and I just don't know it yet.

I thought I'd tell you if they are, too!

My hosts seem to be happily getting, crunching and returning WUs.

Thanks

Just thought I'd mention that I finally picked up a couple of WUs. I was able to report the finished ones awhile ago.

Wonderful! I'm glad everything is working. And we don't have the purge setup currently to run automatically. However, once the current purge finishes I will put that command in the config.xml file so we won't have the space problem anymore.

"Everything is working"? Better look again before breaking out the bubbly.

I'm not getting any new WU's even though the server says it has available WU's...

Is your work cache set to high?....5 days or more? Don't have work cache set higher than deadlines. I am getting work on all hosts just fine btw.

That's good. Also, the reason why the assimilator is backup up so much is because there's an ungodly number of results that need to be purged from the db.

Hey Dave how did the meeting go with admin? Is more disk space in the works?

My work cache is set to 1 day, and it was working fine all this week before the server issue. I just got one batch of work since then and have none as of now.

Force an "Update" and look at the messages tab and make sure that your system is requesting work ... I have had instances where I THOUGH I should be pulling work from a project ... BOINC did not agree ...

John McLeod VII can explain it better than I can, but, the resource debts can get out of whack and it can take some time to get re-organized.

Ah, I forgot about those darn resource debts. Those must be the culprits, I dropped my Cosmology and LHC projects since I haven't gotten anything from them in a while and immediately got some WU's :)

Guess I might have thrown out of whack the debts while personally suspending some of my other projects the last few days and running only Milkyway

That will do it ...

I have had the same problems as I have been "forcing" some projects over others for personal gratification ... :)

One of the ways to fix this is time, the other is to edit the state file and set all the debts to zero. With the new privs though that means you have to re-install BOINC to set permissions right ... not sure which ones get messed up, but, I can install an optimized app fine and reset the permissions with Info and the push down, but editing the state file can only be fixed with a reinstall (so far as I have found).

The good news is that I am slowly getting to where I want to be and "pushing" one project over another will be less of an issue in the near future ... though i still have a ways to go on some projects ...

I have about another 10 or so I want to get to initial states and then I will balance my 20 odd projects on the Mac Pro and go on from there ...

When my brother returns my other dual Xeon I can then use it to "push" projects on a more individual basis while maintaining more "normal" production on my other systems. Like to get more project over SaH's level ... I have two so far ... I guess WCG is the next candidate ...

M-Way, Cosmology, and maybe one or two others would be other candidates ...

Though if they ever get Astropulse going I will be sore tempted ... :)

Especially if I can select Astropulse work only ... if not, kinda a null temptation for me ... not that interested in ET ... he has got to be smart enough not to want to have a thing to do with us ... :)

Yes! We should be getting two 320gb drives for result storage soon.

Milkyway just stopped issuing new work to any of my systems about 10 min ago. Says "got 0 new tasks". Server status currently shows 461 tasks ready to send, but that message is dated and so it appears we're out of work.

There's definitely still work being generated. Are others having this problem?
