Download reaches 100% then nothing happens, even when I retry the download nothing happens. I have 12 de_separation** downloads that have been stuck in downloading status for several days now and I'm guessing it's related to the stars-9.txt issue. BOINC client is 7.0.28 x64 for Win7 and I ran it straight from install. All other projects run fine except Milkyway. Help please. |

1. Suspend network activity in BOINC. 2. Download the file with your web browser from here (right click, save as). If you are using a download manager, which can check MD5, it's "e21a13084001a55b2bf1abd9c2ed7e46". 3. Copy the file to your milkyway directory (overwrite the existing one) and resume network activity in BOINC. |

Could this problem be solved be a detach & re-attatch? |

Could this problem be solved be a detach & re-attatch? Don't think so... I'd start with excluding the BOINC data directory from antivirus scanning and if that does not help reinstall BOINC to make sure file access rights are properly set. |

I'm not that familiar with the BOINC platform. Where do I start checking for the cause? |

The ones downloaded by BOINC are 5 kilobytes short. Same thing happened in the past. Instead of downloading the remaining bytes, it either restarts the download, or size downloaded goes over the file size (but progress remains at 100%). stars-15.txt is 3,293,981 bytes instead of 3,298,981 bytes stars-16-sansSgr is 2,870,829 bytes instead of 2,875,829 bytes[/img] |

I'm not that familiar with the BOINC platform. Where do I start checking for the cause? Well, that's not easy to say... you basically have to guess, what it might be and try if it helps. Like I posted above, at first I'd disable antivirus scanning for BOINC data directory. stars-15.txt is 3,293,981 bytes instead of 3,298,981 bytes There I'd look what data is missing in that file, i.e. compare it with the good version. That might give a hint. Also check for differences in the downloaded part. |

Sorry, I already overwrote the files. Will check when issue recurs. |

Sorry, I already overwrote the files. Will check when issue recurs. In the meantime you can disable the antivirus scanning for BOINC data directory, maybe it will than not happen anymore. |

I am having the same problem now with the two newer stars.txt files (16 etc.) |

You can find the URLs of those files in your client_state.xml. Or you post the exact filenames, than I can tell you where to get them. |

The problem recurred with stars-10-sansSgr.txt, again it's short by 5KB. Download stopped at first "column" of line 106961. Below is the missing data. It's all just text/numbers so I see no reason why it would always stop download at 5KB before end of file. As before, I had to manually download the file using a download manager. Although first download was invalid because file returned had "nulls" starting at line 80444. Maybe it's a network issue (signal noise) at source? 56.278057 4.121405 339.163971 56.141899 5.071003 339.285645 56.235104 15.859034 339.200989 56.149963 31.254990 339.428802 56.035686 11.872714 No idea why it would stop just before the end of the file. Normally, if the connection is lost, BOINC should simply try again to finish the file. The only thing I had so far was BOINC writing messages into the downloaded files instead of stdoutdae.txt, which messed them up of course. That's why I asked you to check, if something is different inside those files. But if they are just shorter... no idea. Have you tried to exclude the BOINC data directory from antivirus scanning? |

Again it's stalled downloading, at twice the actual file size in each case, on my 64-Bit version. But this time on THREE stars files. stars-14-sansSgr.txt stars-12-sansSgr.txt stars-10-sansSgr.txt Why is this still happening! Just not getting any Milkyway work done... It's LHC/SETI gain tho' ;-) |

As I wrote before, first thing to try is to exclude BOINC data directory from antivirus scanning and see if that helps. If not, next thing I'd try is reinstalling BOINC (just install it over the old installation). You can either upgrade in the same time to newer version or simply install the one you are using again. Just as you like, only don't use any beta versions. |
