Ok, now I am getting "Can't open database" errors when I try to report ... :) Did we crash the DB again? |

Paul-This error has happened to me on occasion the last week or so..it is a transient error which clears up if I press update...what it does do is delay the rpc call for an hour if I am not around to catch it and prevents the host from running mw because of not enough work with the 20 limit so it would be nice if Travis or Dave can look into this :) |

If more than 100 people are uploading or downloading workunits there will be an error. I think that is why you get this error. If so, i will update it, but i want to hear if there are any other ideas too? Dave Przybylo MilkyWay@home Developer Department of Computer Science Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute |

I was not that excited about it ... :) I just wanted you to know ... with MWay being BOINC Synergy's project of the month there are a bunch of us here that may not be hitting you so hard past the end of the month (though, I think I will be only slightly less busy here, though I am still thinking over my priorities) ... I don't know if it shows up in the log files in that I never had to look to see if MySQL logs that kind of thing or not ... (not a physical DBA ... I only did logical models) ... If it is only a once in awhile thing with the logs telling you that ... then I would not change the settings just yet ... when it becomes common ... I know you can create other problems if the, what in Oracle terms is called the System Global Area (SGA) is not properly sized for other changes in things like the number of connections which then has to be balanced with the size of physical memory which has to be ... You may want to see if the other project manager types can give you a hint on this ... of course this is just another example of my complaint about the documentation of BOINC being, ahem ... sorry ... lost my head for a moment there ... :) |

. Paul & Dave I don't agree because it has to be frequent enough that I noticed it 4-5 times and is preventing me/us from "being all I/we can be" here @MW.;) |

. All I know from my years working in the database world is that you adjust parameters CAREFULLY ... On my part I have only seen it once and seem to have more problems with my ISP on up-link now than anything else ... sigh ... |
