Any ideas? Downgrade to the driver that worked for you. |

On the lunatics board there are messages about them having problems with openCL with the newest ATI drivers too. Sounds like it started with 13.1 and got real bad with 13.2. I saw a few mw WUs throwing out warnings "line 30: warning: OpenCL extension is now part of core" but did run through with driver 1084.2 (ccc 13.1?) while you get the additional clBuildProgram: Build failure (-11): CL_BUILD_PROGRAM_FAILURE with your driver 1124.2 (ccc 13.2) |

I am having a similar problem with nVidia 313.96, but I'm getting valid & invalid. http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/results.php?hostid=491386&offset=0&show_names=0&state=3&appid= I don't buy computers, I build them! |

Boys too have the same problem with 13.2 beta drivers cat 5, cat 6 and 13.2 beta with the latest cat 13.2 beta 7, and I have no problems with 13.1. The problem for me only this project, and other projects that use OpenCL elaborate and I have no problems such as: DistrRTgen POEM @ HOME Einstein @ Home Albert @ Home SETI @ home SETI @ home / Astropulse Beta Hello everyone and good crunch. |

Indeed Einstein@home is working for me fine too, but Milkyway not. Previous drivers gave issues with flickering screens, sometimes a window with browser maximized got complete white, or one WU stuck. Seems running for hours and needed hours more. Had to suspend it, wait and then start again. Within 2 minutes WU is ready then. So that is why I update to beta driver. Will see is a 12.x driver will work. Greetings from, TJ |

Seems running for hours and needed hours more. Had to suspend it, wait and then start again. Within 2 minutes WU is ready then. So that is why I update to beta driver. On the other hand my system is now running smooth and no more flickering windows, especially in the BOINC tray. Einstein@home (my main project) runs fine as well. So I keep the beta drivers for a while, and thus no Milkyway at the moment. Greetings from, TJ |

Okay I am now more then 4 hours installing and de-installing amd drivers. My guess is you are using 7.0.28, which has a bug in OpenCL detection. They are getting close to releasing a new featured build, and 7.0.56 is the current test version. http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/?C=M;O=D |

You are right but I have crunched 1000's of WU for both Einstein and Milkyway with this version. Greetings from, TJ |

Okay this morning again several hours updating AMD stuff. Version 10 and 12 installed no joy, even extra errors on my systems with graphics and display. Installing and re-installing is bad for windows as well. I have eventually installed AMD 13.3 beta and now my displays are stable, no flickering and Einstein@home is running the OpenCL. Milyway not they error out immediately. Well Einstein@home is my main project, thus until fixed no more Milkyway for the AMD rig. Greetings from, TJ |

Okay this morning again several hours updating AMD stuff. Version 10 and 12 installed no joy, even extra errors on my systems with graphics and display. What OS are you using? If you are using XP you CAN NOT go beyond version 12.1 as OpenCL support for XP was dropped after that. See this page http://www.hal6000.com/seti/boinc_ati_gpu_cheat_sheet.htm which has the download links at the bottom of it. |

Okay this morning again several hours updating AMD stuff. Version 10 and 12 installed no joy, even extra errors on my systems with graphics and display. Most of my pc's use that too! I am still using version 13.1 though, no gaming for me so no need to upgrade very often. |

I did try to re-install 13.1 again for several times, as an update, as clean install with first removing, booting and such, but then the message that opencl app was missing. I give in, Windows and AMD win this time. Next time Linux and nVidia. Greetings from, TJ |

I give in, Windows and AMD win this time. Yeah for some reason Windows uninstallers are HORRIBLE!! There is a program called Driver Sweeper that can help, it is available here: http://downloads.guru3d.com/Guru3D---Driver-Sweeper-%28Setup%29-download-1655.html But sometimes you just need to go thru the Registry to get rid of it all! If you have never played with the Registry before you may want to leave it alone, your WHOLE Windows installation can be destroyed if you do it wrong!! |

Hi, THX for all the answers. I will not downgrade to older drivers since other projects are much faster with the new drivers. I expected also an increase of the crunching speed here. The truth is, only 20% of the wu's finish without errors. AMD spends much efford to increase the efficiency of the driver; 2 of the last 3 driver updates resulted in an increase of the performance, more expected. I will come back from time to time and check what's going on. |

Hi, Both AMD and Nvidia update their drivers to make it better for gamers not crunchers. We crunchers benefit when the tweaks they make purely by chance benefit us. Their user base is gamers not crunchers. Look at the PS3 by Sony, they let people use a boot disk and crunch, until they decided it wasn't to their benefit. Then they said if someone does that they can never connect to the Sony gaming site anymore, and 99% of the people stopped crunching with them. We crunchers are a small offshoot of the gpu and cpu industry and few companies even know we exist. Yes Nvidia helped Seti create the first gpu drivers for Boinc, but it was purely at Seti's request and ONLY for Seti. Seti then shared what they learned and the other projects hoped on board. |

For Windoze 7/8 64b, we use the 13-1_vista_win7_win8_64_dd_c-cc_whql--opencl-12.4.exe that can be downloaded at http://www.DarkRyder.com at the bottom-right of the main page. This driver is a fusion of the modules, the 12.4 OpenCL and the latest other stuff. Darkryder and I are editors at the www.overclock.net BOINC Team Works great for us! 8-) PS: 13.3 beta crashes everything.... Also, use Driver Sweeper and Driver Fusion to clean the who old install after a normal install/reboot process. |
