I've had many dozens of these WUs that don't progress over the last few weeks. It's driving me nuts having to baby sit the machines just to keep things rolling along. Appears to only freeze on my linux machines (debian)
This should be an easy fix I would've thought ?

The odd ones are still coming through - about one every hour or two - but they are now all up to _3 or _4 so hopefully the end is near.

In the last 12 hours I have returned 38 WUs - only one of them had an error (about 9 hours ago), so yes, it seems the end is near.

Travis did try and pull them but he kept being timed out. No more are being generated but an odd one that has been hung up on other Linux hosts are still being reissued. I had one this morning

CPU time 40248.863396

Did I win, huh? huh?

As they say in the game of Pool, Foul Stroke - Four Away, I believe I have pipped you at the post there Skip Da Shu, Try 13.5 hours:

CPU time 48620.108619

application version 1.22

I have a few more that are up to 1.5 hours now so I will abort them, all on my Linux system (Fedora Core 6), AMD Opteron 285.

Dang, Can't even win the booby prize ;-) Cheers

While it's been noted they only run 'forever' on Linux boxes... is it further restricted to 64b vs 32b? or a specific kernel version?

On 64b Xubuntu v8.04 crunchers...
Linux version 2.6.24-17-generic (buildd@crested) (gcc version 4.2.3 (Ubuntu 4.2.3-2ubuntu7)) #1 SMP Thu May 1 13:57:17 UTC 2008

On 64b Xubuntu v7.10 cruncher...
Linux version 2.6.22-14-generic (buildd@king) (gcc version 4.1.3 20070929 (prerelease) (Ubuntu 4.1.2-16ubuntu2)) #1 SMP Tue Feb 12 02:46:46 UTC 2008

Hi guys, for another update, i'm STILL trying to clean the database up.

I started a purge last thursday and it's still running today. Once the database is cleaned up i should be able to go in and remove the last of the bad workunits, i hope it wont take too much longer.

Looks like it's going to be another day without crunching any Milky. All because of these pesky gs-3737 wu's, had another 7 or 8 last night and lost around 18-20 hrs worth of wasted cpu cycles that unfortunately would have been better spent elsewhere. Can't be bothered micro managing any more looking for these wu's i have to sleep at some point . And it looks like theres no new work again anyway.
