Message 4023 - Posted: 9 Jul 2008, 15:06:46 UTC

I'm really sorry about this. I'm the only one running searches at the moment and I've been sick the past few days, and the searches I started before the weekend died out before I could start more.

I just started 2 more searches 3710182 and 3711182.

Again, sorry.

That's understandable.

It's not a problem for me, but rosetta has been giving lower credit to me lately so this helps compensate.

I am sadly going to have to put all my Boinc clients to no new work for this project. I have supported and contributed from the beginning but the server is so slow on the u/l-d/l that my ISP thinks I am being attacked by a virus because of the overload of requests through my routers and makes surfing and the work I do over the net impossible :(

I hope this situation gets rectified soon so I can continue to contribute in the near future.

Wow, server and forum runs better today. :)
But maybe because we're out of work again...

Awhile back wasn't there a mention of moving to a faster server? And what about longer wu's? That would certain help the curret slow servers.

Why would any Project want to move to a faster Server, then you guys wouldn't have anything to Piss & Moan about & you'd have to get a real life instead.

I bet most of these Project Dev's are sitting back and laugh their ars's off at all the commotion they get by keeping their Servers is a state of constant disarray ... :)

Thanks for the tip. I'm new to Milky Way and didn't realize they are so cynical. I volunteer my computer time to try to help worthy scientific causes, not to be a target for sneers and laughter. Looks like this is a project I should detach from.

Thanks for the helpful tip.

They're not. One of the best run BOINC projects available. Travis and Dave do a great job.

The forums are quite lively, and frustration sometimes is expressed in an unexpectedly forthright manner ... Translation: A lot of posts can safely be ignored.

Also, you seemed to miss the 'smile' at the end of the post that you replied to :)

I sat by my computer for a few minutes forcing it to the update server and managed to get it to snag a few...

And I'm sure MW will have some work by tomorrow...the weekends are always shaking around here, but Travis and Co do a great job trying to keep up with the overwhelming support..

Cool, but I'm not going to go thru my entire farm forcing updates just to get a few Cosmology Wu's.

Oh Crap I forgot, I still have 200+ Cosmology Wu's sitting on every one of them waiting to run so I don't have to manually Update any of them yet ... hahaha ... ;)

LOL ... Whatever Bill, or is it really Patsy signing in as Bill... ;) ... I'm sure the project will Soldier on Bravely without your Valued Presences although abettedly somewhat wounded (Happily not Mortally to all concerned) by your absence if you choose to leave the Project over something as minor as what I Posted ... :)
