One of my hosts has 12693 tasks currently stored in the database. That's a record for me. I'm sure there are hosts with much more. Is there a reason why tasks that are ended long time ago cannot be purged? Purging surely would make the database lighter and faster to access.

Maybe this has been answered elsewhere. I can't find the answer, though.

Purges have been done, and are supposed to be automatic. But don't seem to run often enough (if they do).
Doesn't expecting the unexpected make the unexpected the expected?
If it makes sense, DON'T do it.

we were having a problem running the wrong type of purge, thats why the database got so massively backed up and it took us forever to get it fixed. it shouldn't happen again, i think we're purging every couple days.

It looks like the purges may still not be running automatically, I have a few machines that I have retired and their task counts have not gone down since since just before the outage last week.
