Lately, everything I crunch comes up Computation Error. I only crunch with the GPU. AMD Radeon HD 6950 2GB.

OK, I've been following the conversation about problems folks have been having with HD 6000 series AMD GPU's.

I have a 2GB Sapphire 6950 running on this host.

One difficulty I'm going to have in trying to help get this problem worked out is the host is running XP 64, so that limits how far up the driver chain I can go on it and still have OCL support. I'm currently running Cat 11.8 since that's the latest version which works properly on this particular machine.

That being said, early on in this round of project updates here at MW I was running a stock configuration and the project switched the host from the ati14 to the opencl_amd_ati plan_class and it ran both types fine (as you can see from the app details page for the host).

Currently I have the host running on the anonymous platform (as part of working around issues with the way MT applications are handled by BOINC currently). So I need to run the MW cache out on it to change the project config to see if it's having problems with the current OCL app or not. I'm actually running the CAL app on it right now because it's faster than the OCL app according to the APR's shown.

So the only thing I can suggest at the moment would be to try rolling back to an earlier Cat version and see if that helps. I'd suggest 12.6 based on my experience.

Ouch. That's like from a long like time ago. Besides that. I'm not even running it on a XP or even windows platform for that matter. I run it on Linux x64. ;-)

Agreed. But OS differences aside, illegal memory access fault outs have been a problem for both when using 13.x AMD drivers. :-(

In fact, none of my hosts have liked any Cat 13.x driver particularly, or 12.10 for that matter. :-/

I'm experiencing the same problem with computation errors in the last few days.
Also, I see "computation error" in the BOINC Manager screen but I can't find that message in any of the log files. Very strange.

I don't believe I can roll my drivers back that far, however if you make any changes I will continue to try them. I've been crunching on Primegrid with this GPU in the meantime to bring my numbers up there. I have a 5450 in a laptop that crunches away on primegrid since it's about the only project it can handle but it takes 80 hours/WU where this little HD6950 takes 45 minutes/WU.

All Work fails on my HD5850 (W7x64, Boinc 7.2.5, i7-3770K with GTX660Ti, GTX660ti, Intel 4000 and ATI HD5850). Already tried, suspending other work, changing drivers and resetting the project. All tasks complete but then fail at 100%

I've also swapped the GPU's around to make the HD5850 the first GPU (and used for monitor), and reinstalled Boinc... Still getting the same errors.
Note the problem exists for both MW@H 1.02 and Separation (Modified Fit) 1.24 OpenCL WU's.

Try installing Catalyst 13.1 drivers. That is what I had to do on a W7 Ultimate with a 6950 to get it to work for this project.

I'm having the same issue. 100% failure on all opencl computations via BOINC.

Win7 x64
AMD FX-8150 CPU (8-core)
AMD HD6950 2GB (reference card)

I just reinstalled BOINC on this system after several months of inactivity. I'm unable to install any Catalyst prior to 13.4 since this machine is also used for OpenCL development (workplace requirement). I've tried installing up to the latest current beta drivers (13.8 beta) with no success.

On my pc#530829 I am using an AMD ATI Radeon HD 5800 series (Cypress) (1024MB) driver: 1.4.1546 OpenCL: 1.01 and it is both working and not working. I am returning valid units AND invalid units both. I wonder if it is a workunit problem:

As you can see I have been regularly been returning good units!! All of my problems units have been since the 6th of August and most say "validate error". Also most seem to have finished crunching, but got no credits. At least they have a similar time to the valid units I am returning.
