I have the same driver which uses opencl 1268.1 but have BOINC 7.0.28

    d975x2x-2 WIN7x64
    13 2013-09-24 8:11:10 AM ATI GPU 0: Cypress (CAL version 1.4.1848, 1024MB, 991MB available, 4176 GFLOPS peak)
    14 2013-09-24 8:11:10 AM OpenCL: ATI GPU 0: Cypress (driver version 1268.1 (VM), device version OpenCL 1.2 AMD-APP (1268.1), 1024MB, 991MB available)

This should be working but it isnt. I havs since restricted WU's to only do "fit"

NOTE: THESE ARE ALL OPEN CL APPS.

"Modified Fit" seems to be the only tasks working. All others generating computation error on my 5850
http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/results.php?hostid=497329

Yes, I have the same problem on my 6970. :(

I have a 6950 and they ARE working for me:
570963671 430971605 23 Sep 2013, 9:55:40 UTC 23 Sep 2013, 14:35:48 UTC Completed and validated 8,842.33 8,816.48 267.19 Milkyway@Home Separation (Modified Fit) v1.28
http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/result.php?resultid=570963671

It is running Catalyst version 13.6 and Boinc 7.0.64, the 64 bit version.

Yea - but the "fit" are the only ones working. You don't seem to be using opencl either. All of your WU AFAICT are not opencl apps like mine.

You should really update from that version, it had some serious problems with OpenCL.

I am running catalyst 13.9, the latest non-beta driver. That driver includes OpenCl 1268.1 as shown below

I have same problem. Modified Fit is the only OpenCL that doesn't generate a compute error on my 6990... Doesn't matter what version I run in the 13.xx... and I ain't going backward because some serious improvements were made in 13.9/13/10 beta.

However, everything runs on my 7970's...

Although I do not use my gpu's here I too upgraded to the 13.10 Beta and it is faster at Rainbow. It is however SLOWER at Collatz, so it sort of depends on your focus. For gaming yes it is faster, and for at least some projects it is faster too, but not all projects. I am cruncher not a gamer so am not tied to any particular version or other.

All well and good... and exactly what does that have to do with the topic of computational errors?

Are you suggesting some other version works?

Yes lots of versions will work, the key is too find the best for your machine that still works. 99% of my machines are Boinc only machines, meaning all they do all day long is crunch. That gives me more latitude to tweak them more then other people that use their machines for other things too.

So exactly what AMD/ATI driver version do YOU run that works?

Do tell!

Well, I discovered something...

An older version of drivers seems to work on the 6990... These are a special version 12.10 wirh 12.4 OpenCL driver.

You can get it by clicking here:

http://darkryder.com/files/Drivers/Amd/12-10_vista_win7_win8_64_dd_ccc_whql_net4_opencl_12.4.rar

Or just go to DarkRyder.com and look at bottom/right area.

Also, be sure to use Driver Sweeper and Driver Fusion to remove ALL old AMD Display drivers from system before installing... and that after you UnInstall the AMD display drivers...

Good Luck!

Looks like different APP version but same OpenCL version as I use?

This is what is reported by BOINC running the MOD 12.10 drivers and I have zero problems...

Have you tried the 12.10 moded version? Maybe it would work better?

I second Tex's 12.4 OpenCL moded with any catalyst version I have used Darkriders
OpenCL 12.4 moded with Catalyst 13.2 Beta 7 from Darkrider since Feb 2013
on a HD7950 for SETI Einstein and Milkyway OpenCL 12.4 seems to work for all my
projects.

If you are having OpenCL crashes I would definately give it a try, I looked at some crashes recently (all my invalids seem to be due to other peoples crashes) and they do seem to be within the OpenCL DLL's but be absolutely sure you use the recommended
Catalyst removal programs if you are downgrading any component.

I got a NEW for me message today in my Boinc Manager from MilkyWay...I will paraphrase it because it was on a different pc then this one...'the version of the catalyst you are using is not supported by this project'. Okay no problem WHAT VERSION DOES THIS PROJECT RECOMMEND? I am currently using the AMD 13.10 Beta version. I have tons of inconclusive results and am quite ready to move to something else that DOES work, BUT like the idea of MW and what it is trying to do. HELP

As stated before, you must install AMD drivers properly to ensure success.

The method DR and I use is as follows:

Uninstall AMD Display drivers using control panel.

Reboot.

Use Driver Sweeper to uninstall AMD Display.

Use Driver Fusion to catch what Driver Sweeper didn't get.

Reboot.

Run DS and DF again to make sure. If all good, install 12.10 with 12.4 OpenCL drivers.

Reboot.

Enjoy.

Reboot.

Enjoy.

I HAVE drivers installed and they work just fine at other projects, but here I am getting a message ON SOME MACHINES saying the AMD 13.10 Beta driver is "not recommended". What I am trying to say, obviously not very well, is that it works JUST FINE ON SOME MACHINES with NO complaints, but on other machines the PROJECT is complaining.
