I seem to be having a slight problem with this N-Body Simulation.... So I have this program in my tasks on BOINC, and it seems it gets ignored by BOINC. It also is saying it uses 4 cores, which I have a i5-2500 so that isn't a problem. I've tried suspending all other CPU tasks, and it still skips over the Simulation and goes to grab more tasks. Any ideas on how to fix this? I have my settings to allow Multi-CPU, 100% cpu usage and no time limits. Would having my GPU run with it, since it says it uses like .5 of a CPU, make it not work? |

I seem to be having a slight problem with this N-Body Simulation.... I will start...when you suspend the other tasks Boinc looks at the cache of work and says 'I NEED MORE', since you have suspended your other work and MW is not suspended it gets it from MW. Boinc is pretty stupid in that it does not recognize suspended work as work that still needs to be crunched. As for work the only unit the website says you have says this: Completed and validated 308.38 2.43 106.88 So it finished in about 5 minutes, used 2.43 seconds of the cpu while crunching and you got 106.88 credits for it. There doesn't seem to be a problem with how it is working right now. Yes it used 5 minutes of gpu time and yes your time to finish will take much longer if you don't let Boinc use the gpu to help crunch the units, but it should still work. |

I knew about the 'I NEED MORE' stuff, I was just wondering.... Since I've never seen this before at least. I understand the GPU part as well, but I have this lurking task in my tasks that is sitting at 57.227%, and it was actually due back on the 11th. Everything else except for this one task is working perfectly... I can't figure out why BOINC isn't seeing it either, since it hasn't touched it at all even though it has gone through at least 20-40 tasks on the CPU, and again, I tried suspending all the other tasks except for that single one. Yeah that task I believe was also a different version of N-Body, that one was a GPU version, this one is a CPU version (1.18). Thanks for trying to help though! |

Abort the overdue unit(s) as they have probably already been resent to someone else to crunch. When a unit becomes past its deadline it is automatically sent out to other pc's to crunch, if they then return that unit before you do, you will NEVER get any credits for it. They try to send those resent units to fast pc's that have a high turnover rate, meaning they are returning units usually within 24 hours of when they get them. |

Funny thing is I just hit "Use GPU based on preferences" and logged onto my BOINC client or whatever, and the task started working.... LOL, so weird.... |
