Super Bowl? Seahawks??? |

Super Bowl? Seahawks??? I sure HOPE so, but if I had money it would be on the Bronco's, Manning just gets that ball out very quickly making him very hard to fluster. However if the defense can force lots of dropped passes, the Seahawks could easily win the thing! |

I found something I missed - because I had left already at the point the questions were asked.. ;-)) HEY I AM retired too!!! So.. mikey.. Is these questions still unanswered? And are they still valid? ;-D oh..btw.. I`m winning. |

;-)) thanx.. I`m running MW during the ongoing team challenge, as luckily gives me enough speed to post. hehe I only run my purple toaster though, so I`m not fighting in the top ;-9 ;-D ehrmm... questions.. ; I do live in the yellow house, up on a... I wouldnt really call it a cliff... but I guess it depends on what direction you look at it from.. (from north and south east.. maybe - from south and west, clearly not.) Better say a small hill, but definitely an island. ;-) So.. yes.. I`m really living there. Does that tell you something special? ;-) Windmill? ;-) That would maybe be ok for the power use.. but I doubt the cost to build it would be low enough to really save anything all together ;-D Not that I really need it.. I get power from the normal electricity provider.. just that no one can see any lines going into my house.. hehe Reason; I didnt want them there.. so I did it in another way. Ugh.. I dont have many pc`s.. :D One old desktop, one small laptop, and one bigger laptop.. The toaster. The coffee maker and the microwave oven. The two latter doesnt really help me much with the crunching... but the coffee maker is always busy.. It takes quite a lot to serve a Coconut all day and night. :p Ritired? ;-) Maybe I should have been... hehe but my age tells that I am not there yet. and I am So Winning!! |

Now see that wasn't so hard was it? I too have a few pc's crunching, mostly desktops that I have built or rebuilt a few times, I buy new cpu's, motherboards and ram and then reuse everything else. I have been 'fixing' pc's for a LONG time so I have a basement full of 'stuff'. I have 15 pc's on line right now, with another half dozen or so that could be online with about half an hour work on each. The non working ones do not have pci-e slots so would just be dual core cpu crunchers and no really worth the trouble for me. Most of my crunchers are quad or 6 core machines with a couple dual core ones still running just because they haven't been replaced yet, even my laptop is an i7 8 core machine. Most of the desktops have a gpu that also crunchers in them, one even has two gpu's in it. My electric bill is also partly what keeps the other 6+ off line too, I am paying more then double what my neighbors pay, and we have similar households. I have tried to not go too far about the 600 dollar a month range, just for electricity, for a while now. My house is all electric and I live in a neighborhood of almost 3500 homes, so no windmills for me either. As far as WINNING goes, I do believe I am the one doing that right now!! ps I am not very creative in my machine names, I use Boinc1, Boinc2, etc for most of them. |

;-) You are right... thats not very creative ;-D but good enough. Ive yet to hear about computers that complaint about their names. ;-) I did not tell the names on mine though, since that wasnt part of the question. hehe Oh... I also have some computer parts laying around.. but the only reason is that its not that easy to get rid of.. Either I have to put it in a car that I dont have anymore, and drive to the mainland - including a ferry trip of an hour - or I have to do what we should Not do.. throw them out of my window and into the sea. hehe Therefore I have to collect it, to much annoyance for myself mainly, and then hope that one day I`ll get a hitch hike with someone else to that rubbish collection place ;-p (Its probably called something else in proper English) ;-D I guess I`m lucky. I have counted out what I use of electricity: Kwh / year / m2 - as is the only way to compear it with others use.. And even if Im a full time cruncher, I use less than many others in Norway. ;-o (as is probably much more than in many other countries) ;-p It mainly tells I`m living in a good house. Also, I obviously used my head correctly when that house should be buildt - even if my two brain cells normally dont co-operate very well. ;-) As for the winning; Yes, I do. |

You are correct, throwing them into the sea or even the trash is NOT a good idea. Lately I have been giving or cheaply selling my old parts, but I have WAAAY too many old things that people no longer want. Also shipping to people like you is just waaay too expensive so that is not always an option either. I was going to ship a motherboard to guy near you and it was over 100 bucks just for shipping, that is no longer FREE!! I live in the US, so anywhere 'overseas' is not a good thing for me. As for the "rubbish collection place' and "proper English", I am guessing you are referring to a 'landfill', which is where all the trash trucks take the household trash to be piled up and then covered with AT LEAST 15 feet, 5 meters, of clean dirt and made into golf courses, playgrounds or whatever. They also use the 'strip' coal mines for 'landfills' too, that way when all the coal is gone they can rebuild the mountains they striped away to get at the coal. Those they just replant with grass and trees and let return to Mother Natures design. The coal mines can also be filled with the leftovers from the sewage treatment plants before they return the water to the rivers, in most cases the water going back into the river is cleaner then the river itself! They put the waste stuff out to dry, recapturing any runoff and reprocessing it, and then truck the dried stuff to the strip mines. But again they have to put a minimum of 15 feet, 5 meters, of clean dirt on top before regular people can walk on the finished surface. So what do you name your pc's? In the beginning I name my Seti1, Seti2 etc but when Boinc came around I switched to the Boinc naming system. I do use a couple other names, like my main pc is called 'mikes', yes my name really is mike and my nickname at my old work was 'mikey', making it easy all around. My laptop is called 'familyroom' because that is where it is located, in my family room. Oh and I am now WINNING!!! |

Lets see.... ;-) DreamWeaver, Vesta, and NewMoon is the three I have now. Vesta is a goddess, the virgin goddess of the hearth, home, and family in Roman religion. There is this little poem .. rather a pray to Vesta. Many years ago I put it into a little picture frame, and placed it in one of the rooms here in the house.. ;-) It goes like this: Come, Vesta, settle down in this beautiful home. Come with warmth of friendship Bring your wiseness, Your power and glowth In service for the Good. Always burn in my soul. You are welcome here. I`ll remember you. I have no idea where it really comes from.. but its probably a part of some old writings - maybe from the Aeneid of Virgil. ;-) To bring Vesta into my home is by no doubt a good thing. ;-D DreamWeaver doesnt need much explaining.. ehh? ;-) Oh, I know, its also the name of a web development tool - but the word itself.. Drømmevev in Norwegian, should tell its about weaving / including our dreams into our lives. ;-) New Moon - well.. is the first phase of the Moon, when it lies closest to the Sun in the sky as seen from the Earth. It is new beginnings.. ;-) hehe.. Beat that! I win! ;-))) |

hehe.. Beat that! I win! ;-))) I cannot, I am a guy and I don't think of Gods and Goddesses and other stuff like that when I am naming my pc's. I use a problem called WinVNC to sit at one computer and connect to all the other ones, having funky names makes it harder, although after connecting the first time you can just scroll down the list of names and then put in the password to connect to it in future connections. I sit in my basement every morning and go thru each pc, tweaking it if needed and forcing it to connect to its projects so it can return any completed work. I am a goal oriented kind of guy so for instance most of my cpu cores are focused on MW while most of my AMD gpu's are focused on Einstein right now. I do keep one pc crunching for Malaria and my Nvidia gpu's are crunching for Asteroids right now. One of my pc's is down, hopefully due to simple cpu fan replacement, it has an Nvidia gpu and a 6 core cpu in it, so I need to make the time to swap the fan out. But it will be like the others as soon as it is back online. I am back to WINNING again!!! |

I got my pc up and running that has been off for a few days due to cpu overheating issues, I replaced the cpu fan and it seems to be okay now. I am thinking of renaming it from Boinc5 to Zeus!!! Because Zeus is King of all the Gods and WINS at everything!! |

What if I renamed all of them to Zeus1, Zeus2 etc, would that help? I could have lots of little Zeus's running. Oh and I am now WINNING!!! |
