Well, I have been wondering myself since yesterday what the heck was going on, since my AMD card suddenly went silent... You all know how it is with BOINC projects' information policy, it differs all over them. So it will be up again at some time, when we do not know, someone will eventually tell us what was going on and why it took so long or perhaps I am just all too idealistic... :-P Sarcasm is the only way to deal with these things as far as I could figure it out so far... Stay cool! |

Yes. In the past when we have asked the same question...'do you want us to tell you we have a problem or fix it, we can't do both as the same person will be doing both'. Personally I have seen 99% of projects go down at some point, some more then once and for more then a week, but all have come back or in less then 1% of the cases shut down completely. I am guessing MW will fix this and come back as strong as ever, they do not seem to be a rinky dinky or fly by night project. |

Ok ... I'm understanding that is one thing that happens every so often and that in these days other users also have the same problem, but i stopped - the pc restarts, practically i have tried all of them. I just hope we have one thing in the short-term. For example, today even the server of the SETI project has brought the same problem, but this was resolved in a few hours, i was surprised only that are 24 hours that is so. : -) However i thank you for your responses, you have been kind. : -) |

Hi mikey, sorry but if that's what they've told you then they've told you a crock of shit! It doesn't take a minute to post just a brief a thread giving a vague idea of what's going on & initially, for example, saying something like 'looks like the assimilator's down, no eta atm, will post an update in 1-2 days if it's not back up in that time' We should at least have a 1 line message giving some basic info, I'm sure the SETI guys used to do that (not been following that 1 lately though). Team AnandTech - SETI@H, DPAD, F@H, MW@H, A@H, LHC, POGS, R@H, Einstein@H, DHEP, WCG Main rig - Ryzen 5 3600, MSI B450 G.Pro C. AC, RTX 3060Ti 8GB, 32GB DDR4 3200, Win 10 64bit 2nd rig - i7 4930k @4.1 GHz, HD 7870 XT 3GB(DS), 16GB DDR3 1866, Win7 |

We should at least have a 1 line message giving some basic info You have more than just some basic info on the server status page. I'm sure the SETI guys used to do that (not been following that 1 lately though). Not really, at least not in case they could fix it "soon". There's of course the message, that apears on the homepage during the planned weekly maintance, but unplanned server hiccups are simply fixed. |

This was not planned maintenance. We had a problem with the database. The server was restarted and the services brought back up. This happened yesterday. The feeder was running when I left yesterday. I was just informed it went back down so we restarted the service. I am going through the logs to see why it went back down. Jeff |

Hi mikey, sorry but if that's what they've told you then they've told you a crock of shit! I remember 'back in the day' when some thieves stole the actual copper wire that connected the Seti project to the World. They had multiple website servers worldwide so we users could see that it wasn't working, but we got NO info from Seti itself for over a week!! We saw it in the local newspaper before they announced it online! They said..'do you want us to fix it or tell you we are fixing it? We want it running just as much as you do, maybe even more, and we have one guy who can do one or the other, every minute we spend typing is one we don't spend fixing.' I cannot say I agree of disagree, but when a project goes down do NOT expect a notice from them saying they are 'working on it'. I am happy when they do, but not disappointed when they don't. |

Yea I remember that SETI outage too, fortunately I ran SETIQ then and I had a weeks cache, which was hours from running out when they came back online ;). I thought we had heard from them long before they came back online, but TBH it was so long ago I don't remember clearly ;). Hmm, just tried to find some old posts about it (at AnandTechs & others) & couldn't find any, weird... Oh & I don't think it's too much to ask of any project to post some basic info of outages, like I said it only takes a few minutes to post a few lines, as we all know! We should at least have a 1 line message giving some basic info Yea I know about that, that was the 1st page I went to after I noticed my client going idle. I was after some basic feedback (no eta), which Jeff has now given us :). I'm sure the SETI guys used to do that (not been following that 1 lately though). Not really, at least not in case they could fix it "soon". There's of course the message, that apears on the homepage during the planned weekly maintance, but unplanned server hiccups are simply fixed. Not sure if you meant I said they should give an eta on 1st posting - I didn't - or if the SETI guys often say they can fix it soon, don't know on that 1, as I mentioned I don't follow SETI closely atm. Don't have SETI on my own rigs currently. ************************************************************************* Thx for the update Jeff :) Team AnandTech - SETI@H, DPAD, F@H, MW@H, A@H, LHC, POGS, R@H, Einstein@H, DHEP, WCG Main rig - Ryzen 5 3600, MSI B450 G.Pro C.
