Winning after working on a slower race Saturday - Two Oceans Marathon :D

Like watching snails race, I used to jog and thought about upping it to marathons but decided it took too much time and energy. I was in my late 20's and other things on my mind!

It's also like watching paint dry, but at least with paint watching you can get high on the fumes!

That's good!!!

EXACTLY!!
There is an F1 race this weekend, it will be on NBCSN again and practice will be shown at 8am EST on Friday, on Saturday at 8am EST qualifying will be shown and at 7:30am EST on Sunday the actual race will be shown. They are in Spain this week and all the teams will bring some updated parts for their cars trying to be faster then the others. This is the first European race of the season after four 'fly away' races, Australia, Malaysia, Bahrain and China, they always bring updated parts to this race because it's closer to their home bases.

You are correct Lewis won and his teammate Nico came in 2nd. They by far outclassed the rest of the field and the lead could have been much bigger if they didn't just maintain it for a long way in the middle of the race. They lapped everyone up thru 5th place and if the race had lasted longer could have lapped up thru 3rd place! They drive for Team Mercedes and between them have won EVERY race this season, they ARE the class of the field this year!

As for the rest Red Bull came in 3rd and 4th with a Williams coming in 5th and Ferrari coming in 6th and 7th. A Lotus came in 8th, Force India came in 9th and 10th and McLaren came in 11th and 12th. The full list is here:
http://www.formula1.com/results/season/2014/919/

In 2 week the guys will be in Monacco, the land of ritz and glitz and 100 meter yachts of the rich and famous. AND guard rails millimeters from the tires as the guys try to maintain full speed thru the streets of Monacco. There are almost NO runoff areas in Monacco so any mistake often means your race is over as you have hit the wall hard scattering your car for a long stretch of track. The longest 'straight' section is under a hotel in a 'tunnel', and coming out of it the guys can barely see before braking hard into a sharp left right chicane. The cars can easily hit 150mph in the 'tunnel' then have to slow to almost 50mph to make the chicane. Alot of accidents happen there, most resulting in the car not finishing the race, even though there IS a bit of runoff area. Monacco is a track of millimeters where if you get it right you can walk away with the trophy and fist place. BUT if you get it wrong you will end up on the trailer and relaxing in a pool on one of the yachts watching the rest of the cars finish the race.

It is ALSO one of the favorite places the guys go to every year as they get to show off their skills. They also like Spa in Belgium, where the Battle of the Bulge happened, as it is one of the fastest tracks with almost 40 seconds of foot on the floor flat out as fast as you can go down the hill, up the hill and around the corner before you have to lift for the next corner! It is an adrenalin rush to the max! An almost 900 horsepower turbo-charged engine screaming as you try to keep your foot down longer then anyone else! It is NOT for the timid!!

Checklist did you get my pm?

Yes I did, at a loss for words right now.

Memorial day weekend is my favorite race day of the year! Racing from 6am to 11pm and lots of ribs with beer to boot. The only way to talk to me that Sunday is to get between me and the smoker (and the fridge).

Yep!

It has come up to 47F this morning, now at 7:45am, going up to a high today in the low 70's. I went away for the weekend and it was in the upper 80's and low 90's. I guess Fridays rain washed away all the heat too.

We are getting ready for the BIG weekend. Saturday lunch is 1/2lb burgers and bratwurst with chips and dips. Before dinner snack is Buffalo wings and dinner is rib-eye/strip/t-bone/porterhouse steaks with olive oil and salted baked potatoes (lots of sour cream and butter with chopped onions. Sunday lunch is leftovers with dinner being BBQ Ribs with grilled sweet corn. And, of course, lots of beer for the guys and Margaritas for the ladies. Anybody that blocks the big screen during ANY race gets banned! Snacks served all day long both Saturday and Sunday.

Sounds DELICIOUS!!!!!

I just back from my oldest sons wedding and he and a couple of his friends brewed up 4 kegs, 20 gallons, of homemade specialty beer! It also was delicious! They had regular alcohol too, but theirs was the only beer there. One keg was empty when he went back home, while the other 3 had some serious damage done to them. There were 87 people at the wedding and about 30% of them didn't drink, the beer was DELICIOUS!!! We did have to take the car keys from a couple of people who liked it ALOT, but for the most part people did very well in the self control area. It was a great wedding!

Go Red Bull!

Daniel Ricciardo DID win driving a Red Bull sponsored car in Canada this past weekend. It was his first win ever as a Formula 1 driver!!! The Red Bull cars in general have had a tough season so far, lots of DNF's etc, and this is a huge step for them just short of the mid point of the season.
