I know lots of people running MW@H like to know how their rigs compare to other peoples & would like to see how an upgrade would improve output.
Whilst you can look through the MW BOINC stats the info is rather vague, it doesn't give clock speeds or specific GPUs for example, nor does it account for anything that might add to WU times.

So please share your new scores for old & new GPUs & CPUs alike!

Please note new requirements for the benchmark :-

Validated 106.88 credit WUs only & must be from the MilkyWay@Home v1.02 app*.

Average of 5 WU times
(not cherry picked please! ;) ).

A dedicated CPU core for each GPU, please state clock speeds if overclocked (including factory overclocks) or state 'stock'.

Please only crunch 1 WU at a time per GPU otherwise it will massively increase WU time! (even if it does increase output, the WU times seem to fluctuate much more than singly crunched WUs so you can't 1/2 the time either).

For CPUs you'll want to crunch 1 WU per real core.

It would also be handy if you could state your BOINC & driver version & OS, incase it does make any odds.

* the separation mod fit ones are slower. ~20s on my HD 5850 @850 MHz.

Please check in the latest posted benchmark table to see if their are any updates to the benchmark requirements.

*****************************************************************************

If your wondering why I'm starting over again it's because the original (long) version of the 213.76 credit WU used for the benchmark has become only sporadically available now.
At 1st a short version joined it & so for a while we had both (which confused some people) & then the long 1 disappeared altogether for a time! It is sporadically back now but it just makes things too difficult.

Also I later found out that some people don't run the mod fit WUs (like the 213.76s) because of lower credit & some people can't run them due to hardware limitations (e.g HD 3800s). I did ask originally but no one said anything :P.
So this time I've chosen MW v1.02 106.88 credit WU for the benchmark, although it's shorter run times give the illusion of smaller performance gaps between different hardware it'll be easier overall.

Because the rubbish forum software won't allow editing after 1hr I will have to post the latest table towards the end of the thread, or alternately you can check out the table in the AnandTech forum benchmark thread I've created. http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2384985 (which I can update!).

I'll start off with my main rigs time for now :).

HD7950 oc at 1100 but drops to 900 during run, jumps between 1100 and 900.

AMD A8 at 3.4 Default. Win 7 64 bit

ave time is 33.06 seconds but when 4 CPU's are running T4T times go up to 35 and 36 seconds.

http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/results.php?hostid=509400&offset=0&show_names=0&state=0&appid=3

Catalyst old 13.2 beta 7 moded with OpenCL 12.4 due to bad OpenCL compiler released on 13.1 which was latest when I installed the HD7950.

They must have fixed the bad compiler but it was still bad in early 13.x versions.

</app_config>

Temperature / GPU = 66 Celcius by 100% usage
Did crunched 1 WU / GPU with 1 CPU / GPU
The GeForce GTX 690 has 2 GPUs on board

Here the last 5 best results:

753950984 563958930 547777 395.38 3.68 106.88 MilkyWay@Home v1.02 (opencl_nvidia)

Thx for your times guys :)

JBG
Yep I can certainly add those :).
Stock clocks right?

Btw, from old thread :-

go do your test next time a bit longer, so that you can do a much better average time calculation

What on earth do you mean by that? lol. I didn't post any times in my last post there...
Nice jump in your credits btw :).

Tom
I don't quite understand why your GPUs clock speed is jumping around, is it overheating? If so then you ought to either boost fan speed or drop the clock rate. Anyway I'm afraid I can't use an average taken from such large jumps in clock speed, it needs to be at a steady speed to give a meaningful benchmark.
Drop us your times when you've fixed it :).

Incidentally Cat 13.1 works fine with MW@H, that's what I & many others use.
Without moding, latter ones don't seem to work with HD 5800s & 6900s on MW.

@Assimilator1:

Yes the Card = in Stock values

Info from CUDA-Z:
Clock Rate: @1019,5Mhz with driver v332.21
MultiProcessors: 8 (1536 Cores)
Memory per GPU: 2048 MiB / 256bits / Clock Rate: 3004MHz
Performance:
Single-precision Float: 1925.06 Gflop/s
Double-precision Float: 138.656 Gflop/s

Also iam using always the programm TThrottle to keep the temperature below 76 degr.C

About the times in my list for v1.02...
only the times between 393 and 442 sec are crunched with the 1NV / 1CPU setup (1 WU / GPU)

the times from arround 500sec are WUs that been started with the 0,25NV setup,
and ended with the 1NV setup.. so you can just forget those..
and the times arround 700+ sec are done with the 0,25NV setup (4WUs / GPU),
you also can fotget those..

hope that you now understand the jumping in seconds between results.. ?

Yea no probs with your times, it was Toms times that I couldn't use.
Although are you saying your throttling your GPUs? That would hurt times!
Btw I believe 76C is a long way below their safe max.

I guess you missed his name in my post ;).

With the HD7950 clock set to 900 no variation occurs and the timings are very similar 33.05 seconds average .01 sec variance with No CPU jobs.

Its not heat that varies the clock when set to 1112 oc via MSI afterburner
as Einstein and SETI do not vary.

Thx for the times folks :)

Btw does anyone know another English capable speaking Team whose forum & MW team is very active? (so I can gather more times).
Didn't try SETI.USA before because their MW forum looked dead, but looking at the views/replies for the Pentathlon thread maybe I was wrong, so I'm going to try them.

Tom
Ah ok, is it hitting a power tune limit then? Btw the MW v1.02 WUs draw a lot more power than the mod fit WUs, does the speed vary for them too?
Will add the 900 MHz time anyway.

Happy to see a new benchmark started, since I had to replace the card used in the previous test because one of the two fans seized. So I replaced the 7950 TOP with an R9 280X TOP (ASUS). It has a factory OC of 1070Mhz and 1600Mhz on the memory. I use the latest Boinc version and AMD graphics driver (not the beta) on Win7 64bit Pro. Run times to complete "106.88 credit WU's" average in 25sec range and I provided a link for reference. Regards, Wes.

IF you want the old card back up and running check out the Artic Cooling aftermarket cooling fans. You can take your current fans off and put new ones on.

I too am glad a new thread was started, the old one got pretty long.

Well hopefully this benchmark WU will be around for a while so this thread will end up long too ;).
Times upcoming? :)

WES
Thx for your time :). So which BOINC & driver version are you using then?
I'll add the time here when a few more have been posted.

Btw, like mikey said, you could replace the fans on your old card, unless it got toasted??

I have made some tests overclocking the graphic card (not on daily use).
With gpu clock 900 mhz and memory at 1200 mhz I have reached an acceptable temperature at 83°/85°C.

Hi and thanks for the info which'll make an interesting summer project as I plan on matching the 7950 TOP with an E8500 my g/son uses atm. The Boinc version is 7.2.42 and graphics driver is AMD Catalyst ver. 14-4.

Wow! you got your 5970 to 900 MHz!? Nice :D

I've added that to the AT table, I'll add it to a table here after a couple more results. Your 5970 is now near the stock 7950 time! :)

Thx for your time, & yea let us know what times you get when you've found it's best speed :).

Interesting that your GPUs time nearly matches DutchDKs 'faster' GPU!

Not so weird, since the GPU speed is close. Memory speed is not that important in the crunching of milkyway WU's.

What puzzle's me though, is the reason why Arivald is underclocking his memory. All Gigabyte's R9-280X cards run their memory at 1500 mhz (GDDR5 = 6000 Mhz), if you look at the Gigabyte site.
I think Arivald is mistaking the core speed (950 Mhz, boost to 1100), which his card has, as mem/core speeds.

It would help if Arivald posted his actual card model number, since currently Gigabyte has 2 versions of their R9-280X standard cards, and 2 versions of their R9-280X Overclock edition cards, and 1 version of their R9-280 (non-X) cards:
