I'm not sure which projects it was (I thought it was this one but maybe not I'd have to check posts) in early stages the WUs were aborted with because maximum CPU time exceeded. Anyway, I thought it was the projects that was aborting because I don't see a setting In BOINC Manager or BAM to set a CPU Max Time and they weren't running too long before being aborted. That's what I tought it was the projests but wasn't sure. I got some of those long WUs OAH come out with too. More that one on some hosts. :-) |

My Pentium III says "Goodbye" to Milkyway. Oh My. I have a Pen D 3.0G with 15 MW WUs that the deadline is in 6 hours. That's because of the 9 mins TTC to 9 Hours TTC. They just started running yesterday so I'll only complete 7 of the 20 because of the change of length. My PII 266Mhz ran one in 68+ hours :-). There shouldn't be anymore flood of WUs once BOINC Manager get the completion right. Nobody will have to complain on only 20 WUs per host now. Edited: Looks Like I'll have a good many to abort. |

Has the MilkyWay work units been extended again? My Opteron 285 has been doing these in less than 4 hours and as low as 2.54 hours, but I now have one that has been running for 9 hours and it is only at 46%. It is a gs_3720282_1216093681_2573596_1 model. I did not add the actual WU link as it will be purged as soon as it is returned. |

Has the MilkyWay work units been extended again? About 20 seconds after it reaches 50%, it should complete. Maybe you've been lucky and just gotten the medium length ones before this one. ![]() Calm Chaos Forum...Join Calm Chaos Now |

Has the MilkyWay work units been extended again? No they have not been extended again. The 3720282 and 3721282 are the long WUs from when I first increased it, but after that they have only been shortened. The 3730382 and 3731382 should run between half and a quarter of the time of those above. ~Nate~ |

Adding to what Thunder said.....Nate has already said that Travis will increase the deadlines soon,so these short deadlines won't last long ;) So you sent Work Units out with wrong FLOP counts. When the machines finished they adjusted their DCF's. Now you, the project, get the back side, a much lower total FLOP count for your project. Wed Jul 23 07:40:06 2008|Milkyway@home|Message from server: No work sent Wed Jul 23 07:40:06 2008|Milkyway@home|Message from server: (won't finish in time) Computer on 100% of time, BOINC on 100.0% of that BONIC is very slow to lower the DCF. I'm not inclined to reset it by hand on my machines either, because until the correct FLOP counts are being sent with the work units it will just reset to some ridiculously high value anyway. Good luck as I suspect a large number of machines will never ever be able to down load a work unit from Milkyway again. Gary ![]() ![]() |

[...] Til now i didn't see any change with deadlines. Will it come? My computers are set to run when not in use. Some get only about one hour/day to crunch on five days/week. Dandelion |

I've been getting a mixture of flavours, but less 371s and 372s - Are these just reissued WUs or are they still being generated? I only ask because my slowest host really isn't suitable for the long WUs and could be more usefully utilised on another project. The medium WUs are OK by me - Longer than I usually like, but I can live with it at the moment :) Al. |

Eh Matey....Nate said the 373 type length only ...after the 371 & 372 finish their search there should be no more. |

Eh Matey....Nate said the 373 type length only ...after the 371 & 372 finish their search there should be no more. Sadly I'm only getting BFO WUs and Ickle Tiny WUs. My clients don't know what the estimated runtimes are so I end up starving out other projects because a couple of 371s are getting 13 hour estimates :( I could be mean and keep deleting the BFOs and tiddlers and hope I get the nice comfy 373s, but that doesn't seem right somehow ;) Al. |

LOL... as well as just extend the time before we finally get rid of all this 'experimental' work and set up more new comfy medium size searches. I guess the bottom line is we all have to grit our teeth and chew through this current 'fluff'. ;-) FWIW, I seem to be drawing mostly Par 5's too right now (Par 6's if you talking to my G3). :-) Alinator |
