de_nbody_9_09_15_orphan_sim_0_1437561602_1028371_1 aborted by user This one hadn't started. Have two that ran for 4 and 5 hours respectively, sitting at 99-100% for last couple of hours at least before I suspended them. Don't mind getting "bad" tasks, that's the nature of BOINC, but when they take over my whole machine and prevent it from doing anything else… Host is a MacBook Pro 2.5 GHz core i5 OSX 10.8.5 latest BOINC (this week). Other projects and other MilkyWay tasks completing fine. |

This is MAC N-body 2CPU - 1st example OK, 2nd running for 5 days until suspended Tue Sep 22 09:54:48 2015 | Milkyway@Home | Starting task ps_nbody_9_09_15_orphan_sim_0_1437561602_833031_2 Tue Sep 22 10:15:26 2015 | Milkyway@Home | Computation for task ps_nbody_9_09_15_orphan_sim_0_1437561602_833031_2 finished Tue Sep 22 10:15:26 2015 | Milkyway@Home | Starting task ps_nbody_9_09_15_orphan_sim_0_1437561602_911755_2 Sun Sep 27 08:51:21 2015 | Milkyway@Home | task ps_nbody_9_09_15_orphan_sim_0_1437561602_911755_2 suspended by user |

I gave each of mine another couple of hours of CPU, still hanging at 100% and never finishing. Hate to abort them, but while suspended, won't get any more Milkyway work! Any suggestions welcome… |

Mine, too. When running at 8 CPUs it often says 100% complete but then keeps running. I have finally given up and reset the project several times because it gets hung at 100% complete and never finishes, meanwhile keeping BOINC from working on other projects. |

I've set the prefs to not give me any more N-body tasks, and given the lack of response from administrators, I'm going to go ahead and abort the two that have been hanging around. Maybe the project will give me some more of the ones that DO work, or maybe not. We'll see if it's worthwhile continuing this project or not. If their software is too buggy to produce decent results, there are too many other projects out there that do work and are doing useful science. N-body hanging apparently was a problem back in June that was supposedly fixed - nothing from staff since then. |

I'm having exactly the same problem with 8 CPUs as well, I will also turn them off in preferences. I don't recall this being a problem until recently. |

Hi, The problem is resolved for me with the new NBody v1.54. Not all Nobody validate (lots do), but they don't run past 100% and they finish. Sjmielh |
