My rig runs three separate gpu units [ 2 x gtx 550 + 1 gtx 660] and is built for production efficiency rather then simple production. This means I run the smallest CPU that will keep them fed. Accordingly I would rather not run CPU work units. Is there a list? |

If you don't want to use CPU, you can go to your account page and uncheck the "Use CPU" box under "MilkyWay@Home preferences". But, I would hope that you're using your CPU for at least another BOINC project, because there are plenty that don't have the benefit of GPU crunching. Click here to see My Detailed BOINC Stats |

are there applications that can't run on GPU? Or can anything Milkyway needs to calculate be done on GPU? |

Keep in mind that not all problems are suited to GPU usage. Some problems do run much better on CPU. "Apollo was astonished, Dionysus thought me mad. But they heard my story further and they wondered and were sad." |
