For the past 18 hours or so, connecting to the site has been dog slow -- has anyone else noticed this. I was much faster (normal) prior to that. |

I restarted the server. Should be better now. I'll check the database to see if there's any backups Dave Przybylo MilkyWay@home Developer Department of Computer Science Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute |

Looks like something is still amiss - -tried to upload a result and got this: 9/3/2008 9:49:53 AM|Milkyway@home|Started upload of gs_3720282_1220392095_296144_0_0 9/3/2008 9:49:55 AM|Milkyway@home|Temporarily failed upload of gs_3720282_1220392095_296144_0_0: http error 9/3/2008 9:49:55 AM|Milkyway@home|Backing off 2 hr 5 min 6 sec on upload of gs_3720282_1220392095_296144_0_0 I did a BOINC stop/start, flushed DNS and even rebooted the workstation with the same result. Looks like with your reset, the upload server connectivity has been borked. I am seeing this with multiple workstations now. All other connectivity (including work downloads) appears to be OK, just the connectivity to the upload server. |

I'm getting the same: Milkyway@home 9/3/2008 11:49:58 AM Started upload of gs_3711182_1220480601_321654_0_0 so far this is the only computer attempting an upload, but it's been failing for about 15 minutes now. |

Same here. Seems like the validator and assimilator won't start for some reason after the reboot of the computer. We're working on this now and should have a resolution hopefully soon. Dave Przybylo MilkyWay@home Developer Department of Computer Science Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute |

With only 20 WU's per machine is easy stand without work to the 24/7 dedicated computers with 4 cores (or more) and/or fast boxes if there are any comms problem... or others... Are there any prevision of find a solution for this...? (like 20 or more WU's per core not per machine...) Best regards Logan. OK -- here is hoping 'soon' isn't airline 'soon' -- (20 minutes from whenever you ask, you ask after 20 minutes and the answer remains, 20 minutes from whenever you ask). Same here. |

OK -- I am going to assume that work unit due dates are going to be pushed out. This project has very short cycle due dates (which, when mixed with work units which run a LOT longer than BOINC expects them to is a troublesome combination anyway), and so outages for uploads can cause work not to get uploaded on time. Please confirm this. Thanks |

I'm getting 03.09.2008 22:13:19|Milkyway@home|Temporarily failed upload of gs_3731382_1220475651_320007_0_0: HTTP error again. *sniff* Lovely greetings, Cori |

Right, join the crew. Apparently there is a configuration problem or connectivity problem or communications problem or problem problem of an undefined or undiagnosed or otherwise confusing nature. Dave is aware that the problem exists but at this point there is no information further. I suspect he is deep into troubleshooting, and hopefully, is not at the 'random number generation problem solving technique point' for trying to resolve it. The problem might be related to the issues that started surfacing yesterday which pushed I/O communications down into the dial up modem range. In solving that problem this new one surfaced. I am sure that all work unit due dates have been pushed out accordingly in as much as they will all go overdue since this project uses very short due date cycles for work units some of which only take minutes to process, but others of which a 4 to 10 process time is required. I haven't seen any comment from Dave regarding either the problem specifics or the the due date push outs since he acknowledged problems a few hours ago. I figure he agrees with me regarding the due date push outs and because of that didn't need to acknowledge that he concurs. I also figure he is dealing with the frustration of (to date) unsuccessful troubleshooting regarding the server communication problems we are faced with. I'm getting |

I'm sure Dave is giving his best to solve the problem. No need to put more pressure on him. mic. |

Understood -- and I agree - this is a small limited resource BOINC project and I also suspect Dave has other things on his plate aside from the care and feeding of the MilkyWay project. I'm sure Dave is giving his best to solve the problem. |

I'm sure Dave is giving his best to solve the problem. Hahaha thank you guys! Well I've passed this onto our labstaff because we're getting an error with one of the libstdc++ static libraries. So they'v got to fix it. They're usually right on top of things. I'll try to expedite...sorrrry!! No problem -- thanks for the explanation. You have plenty of time -- as long as it is working NOW!! <just kidding>. Seriously though, is there something you can do to push out due dates -- say by a few days -- my guess is that this one won't get fixed until sometime tomorrow best case. I'm sure Dave is giving his best to solve the problem. |

I hope they get it fixed within 12 or 13 hours, I'm going out of town tomorrow and have 14 WUs waiting to upload and I don't leave the machines on when I'm out of town. Calm Chaos Forum...Join Calm Chaos Now |
