Maybe the MW team should check out the stats on this page, specifically the 'Hosts by OS' graph at the bottom. Windows 81%, Linux 15%, Mac 3%, Other .2%. http://boincstats.com/stats/project_graph.php?pr=milkyway&view=hosts Doesn't expecting the unexpected make the unexpected the expected? If it makes sense, DON'T do it. |

If you check the stats carefully you will see more strange things ...example ,a simple quad q6600 (Windows) with 82.000 credits per day !! Or much better a dual core system with windows has 568.000 credits per day !!! NO FUCKING WAY !!!!! |

(I can't say if this is out of place) but a 32(64) core server is getting 1.6 million credits/day. Is that correct? http://boincstats.com/stats/host_graph.php?pr=milkyway&id=39288 Doesn't expecting the unexpected make the unexpected the expected? If it makes sense, DON'T do it. |

Well i found a much better thing: This is really weird. If someone has found a way to somehow slam our server and get more work than they should.. while reporting bogus results that might explain some of the server problems we've been having. Going to look into this. |

Dear Travis thank you very much for your interest to check this strange account/computer, please check this computer too: That was the one I posted about a few up. (I can't say if this is out of place) but a 32(64) core server is getting 1.6 million credits/day. Is that correct? Does have 64 cpus but seems very high. And user is n/a Fortunately, Travis can very easily see the owner of those computers from the admin pages. Please use "Reply" or "Quote" buttons on posts, instead of "reply to this thread". Keep the posts linked together ("X is a reply to Y"). |

banditwolf oops sorry ... :P One or two guys they are cheating !! I would guess one who is very good and a few others who aren't as proficient at cheating/ and/or optimizing the new apps. Doesn't expecting the unexpected make the unexpected the expected? If it makes sense, DON'T do it. |

Well, I would be careful about making calls of cheating. This could be merely a case of host merging. Alinator |

Well, I would be careful about making calls of cheating. Could be. The owner might then resort to merging a number of the 'virtual' HID's to reduce the clutter in his account listing and presto, whopping big numbers every so often. We've seen this kind of 'creative scripting' off and on for at least a couple of years. Alinator |

I have just reduced my connection tine from 1.5 days to .5 days but I am still running High piority any chance of increasing stripe deadline time perhaps by a day to four days. not for this host but slower. I will still be able to complete these WU in time as most of my other prject WUs have deadlines of 28 days. Just means suspending other projects for a couple of hours. michael. |

Unfortunately, what we're doing is somewhat more time sensitive than other BOINC projects, so the 3 day limit is already pretty high. |

Also, this situation should improve as folks TDCF settles back down from the chaos of the last month or so. ;-) I wasn't having HP/EDF issues back last summer when things were relatively quiet around here. :-D <edit> I know you're waiting for new local drives to arrive, but could you please consider going back to 1 day purging. We seemed to be doing OK with that when everyone was on the same app page at this runtime level before. ;-) Alinator |

Just a quick YEE-HAA for the staff at MW!! Just ran my first WU with the optimized app.( .04 ) My machine is a P4/3.06/1 CPU/ 1 gig of memory & 128 mb video. The WU flew through my machine aproximately 10 times faster!!! WU's were running 9 to 10 hrs B4, now, 1 hr & 17 mins for a WU. thats much better.Good work. |

Since this was covered before in this topic= It seems that it should be impossible to get this kind of credit on MW with the credit limit right? How about 3,145,349 credits in one day? http://boincstats.com/stats/host_graph.php?pr=milkyway&id=40570 Host ID "40570" Owner n/a Link to users host stats n/a Commission time 2008-12-10 CPU Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU X7350 @ 2.93GHz Number of CPU's (number of (virtual) cores) 32(64) Operating System and version Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Total Credit 3,162,573.22 Seems to have only run for 1 day.
