Is the project out of work? Have only been able to get just a few work units in the last 3 or 4 hours.

I wish the head of the project would post a notice about this problem.

After some investigation, I have concluded that the project's validator is malfunctioning. It has over 100,000 tasks waiting to be validated. Looks like work unit rationing/limiting has gone into effect. Some word from the project head would be greatly appreciated.

I failed to mention that I am running only GPU work units. Sorry for the confusion. Seems like there is a shortage of them. So I started doing CPU work units in addition to the GPU ones. When I did that, My work queue filled up normally. Happy day!

Hey Everyone,

I've been busy working on the GPU compatibility issue. I thought this issue was mostly solved a month or so ago, but it seems to be popping back up again. The issue is the work generator refuses to make work even when there is a clear need for it. I plan on looking into the issue more after I push the new version of MilkyWay@home out on Monday.

I have an idea of how to fix this problem already so we will see how that works.

Sorry it took so long to respond to your posts. In the future if you want a quicker response from me, try replying on a relevant news post. I don't read number crunching daily.

I can't get any CPU units - only GPU, and not many of those!
Nearly all of my "inconclusive" results have not been resent either?

GPU tasks for MW are very difficult to get. Why can't that cache be filled with new tasks? Is there a problem with lack of compute power on the servers?

Hey Merle Van Osdol,

I am working on increasing work unit availability. It should just be tweaking settings on my end, but I haven't quite found the best settings yet.

It used to work well, then it pooped out, then it started working well again, and now the same problem.

Have a setup with two AMD 7970's and I only get a few or none WUs for each request... then wait at least another minute before I can try again. The setup clears WUs so fast that a minimum of 30 WUs is needed to keep it working...

Sigh...

HELP!

:D

There is nothing you can do apparently. We have to be patient until the problem is fixed on the server side.

Hey Everyone,

Looks like I found some better settings. Let me know if you are still running out of work units.

It still happens from time time, enough often to empty the queue completely:

30/09/2016 07:49:32 | Milkyway@Home | Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks
30/09/2016 07:49:32 | Milkyway@Home | No tasks sent
30/09/2016 07:49:32 | Milkyway@Home | No tasks are available for MilkyWay@Home
30/09/2016 07:49:32 | Milkyway@Home | No tasks are available for Milkyway@Home Separation (Modified Fit)

Thanks for the update. I'm tweaking some work knobs today trying to improve work unit availability. Hopefully I can get the work unit generation stable soon.

More feedback regarding workunit shortage: my slower machine (2x5870) is getting enough work now - it requires 8 tasks per minute to run at 100%. But my main rig (4x7970) requires up to 40 tasks per minute and it's frequently running out of work.

My setups still running out of work as well... even running 1 task per GPU it still runs out and sits for a LONG time doing nothing..

For years, never had any problems... too many users now?

Help!!!
