Just started happening this evening 20-Sept-16. I submitted it for analysis. Is anyone else seeing this? For now it's blocked so I won't be doing any m@h processing. |

Hey Dadx, Not sure why AVG would be flagging our application as a threat. If you would like, please feel free to inspect our code since we are a completely open source project here. I personally compiled each of the separation applications running on the server right now and can speak to their safety. As for the compiler I used, I used the x86_64-w64-mingw32 cross compiler from an Ubuntu 14.04 LTS computer house in our office on campus. As far as I know, for additional safety, each application is signed by the server and the signature is checked for validity by the BOINC client before each run. This prevents someone from tampering with the binary or substituting the binary for a new one in transit to your computer. If you have any other questions about the application and its safety please let me know. Jake |

Just started happening this evening 20-Sept-16. I submitted it for analysis. Is anyone else seeing this? Lots of a/v program pick up on the 'way' Boinc handles things as that can also be how viruses act, transmitting tiny amounts of data at one time but doing it every few seconds or so. The best thing to do is to exclude the Boinc directory from your a/v and malware scan, that way you can keep crunching. Any real virus will try to jump to your other directories and then get caught, while all the false positives in the Boinc directories will be ignored. You have your pc's hidden so I don't know what OS you are running but if it's Windows you need to exclude the Boinc directory under 'c:\program files/Boinc', 'program files' is a hidden directory so you may need to unhide it first. After excluding Boinc you can then rehide it if you wish. |
