I always have loads of projects, so I guess I'm not trying to get work from only one (and I would never expect to). I've currently got 4 projects. When I started doing BOINC again recently I chose the 5 science type projects that allowed AMD GPUs - POEM, SETI, World Community Grid, Einstein, and Milky Way. Although World Community Grid is yet to produce any GPU work. And POEM has closed down. |

Not getting any task either ("got 0 new tasks"). |

I get them, they're available most of the time, keep trying. |

Easy enough to have work if you have multiple projects running at once. A project should be able to supply enough work though. Its in their own best interest to do so; short term and long term. Workunits waiting for validation 2,046,092 Also WCG only has CPU applications right now. |

I didn't realise many folk only ran one project. And WCG was listed in the BOINC list as for AMD, so I signed up. I assume they'll get GPU work eventually? |

I didn't realise many folk only ran one project. Last 2 years no GPU work at WorldCommuntyGrid and I don't think soon. Poem project shutdown, GPUGrid only for highend Nvidia GPUs, Einstein@home left only one GPU application, Primegrid and collatz working but I don't interested them at all. I hope database not getting error "Workunits waiting for validation 2,132,479" and growing. |

I'm getting plenty GPU tasks using Einstein, SETI, Milkyway. I was assuming the servers needed upgraded due to increased load from GPUs, and they're letting a queue build up until they get more power. Better to keep giving out WUs than to stop the validation. |

I'm getting GPUs ok, but zero CPU units for the past few hours |

Odd, as the server status has always shown the nbody to have a big queue. It's the modfit that runs out. |

I didn't realise many folk only ran one project. I run several CPU and GPU projects but usually one per GPU/CPU on a machine. So with MW set to 100% and E@H set to 0% on one machine it often ran out and started 2x E@H WUs which can take several hours. I run WUProp and it counts 4x WUs at once per processor as 96 hours per day. Yesterday I was down 19 hours on MW so most of the time it was doing something else. I setup an update script which is helping to keep the queue full but it still updates and receives no WUs sometimes. As mentioned WCG no longer has a sub-project with GPU support. It is currently all CPU. |

You have E@H set to 0% and it downloaded? By 0% do you mean the project weight? I thought 0 would stop it altogether. |

The resource share in each project's preferences. If there is no other work to do it will download a unit, 2 since it's set to run 2 at a time. It shouldn't download any if I could keep plenty of MW work. |

My bad, I didn't mention that I only use the M@H ATI client. It looks like there aren't any GPU task available right now? That would explain the inactivity. |

Getting loads of GPU tasks for my ATI on M@H here. Also their server status shows a decent queue for both task types. |

I don't understand people running only one project, then getting upset when work isn't available. Sign up to a second project. |

Radeon 280X is best in Double Precision work - all TOP computers have this specific GPU. It is however one of the Least Efficient per W for Single Precision work. There are two projects that require Double Precision support MW@H, and PrimeGrid. Not many people want to use cash, just to grind prime numbers. I dedicate my 280X to MilkyWay@Home, and I'll buy new efficient GPU for Single Precision work (either GTX1080, or most likely Radeon 480). Once upon a time I was flamed that I wish for old, almost ancient CPUs to be excluded from MW@H. It was said that we need all FLOPS that we can get. Riiight... and now we specifically ignore GPU users requests for working project... because what? |

I don't understand people running only one project, then getting upset when work isn't available. Sign up to a second project. I was referring to people like mmonnin saying "WU availability is sporadic at times for GPUs that run 100% MW." IT doesn't matter to me as my GPU will go and do SETI or E@H instead. What I don't understand though is that my CPUs are receiving M@H modfit tasks. These are the ones that can run on a GPU aren't they? There's a bigger queue of nbody, those should be given to CPUs, and let the GPUs modfit. |

Radeon 280X is best in Double Precision work - all TOP computers have this specific GPU. Asteroids@home also requires double-precision, but it supports only Nvidia CUDA unfortunately. The point is, MilkyWay is currently by far the best project if you have 7970/280X graphic cards. Of course, I also crunch for other projects when MW is out of work, but it's kinda wasteful, to crunch single-precision with Tahiti GPU. A lot of newer and more efficient graphic cards are a much better choice for single-precision work. |
