Hi Everyone,

There will be a scheduled server outage today around 1pm. This should be a brief outage while we install some additional RAM in the server.

Thank you for your understanding.

Jake

The server has been upgraded. Let me know if you see any more database errors or other hiccups here.

The database server app is generating database errors. It is not receiving work or responding to user-requested updates. This has been going on for hours.

I'm experiencing some problems after the update..

on 2 new machine project attaches regularly but didn't download the project executables.. this is a host attached some minutes ago but i have the same problem on a different machine and also with different user:

24/02/2018 15:57:09 | | Fetching configuration file from http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/get_project_config.php
24/02/2018 15:57:36 | Milkyway@Home | Master file download succeeded
24/02/2018 15:57:41 | Milkyway@Home | Sending scheduler request: Project initialization.
24/02/2018 15:57:41 | Milkyway@Home | Requesting new tasks for CPU and AMD/ATI GPU
24/02/2018 15:57:42 | Milkyway@Home | Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks
24/02/2018 15:57:42 | Milkyway@Home | No tasks sent
24/02/2018 15:57:42 | Milkyway@Home | Tasks for CPU are available, but your preferences are set to not accept them
24/02/2018 15:57:42 | Milkyway@Home | Tasks for NVIDIA GPU are available, but your preferences are set to not accept them
24/02/2018 15:57:46 | | Resuming file transfers

But c:\programdata\boinc\project\milkyway folder is empty and all other future tries to update manual and automatic on both machines always give me:

24/02/2018 16:03:13 | Milkyway@Home | update requested by user
24/02/2018 16:03:13 | Milkyway@Home | Sending scheduler request: Requested by user.
24/02/2018 16:03:13 | Milkyway@Home | Requesting new tasks for AMD/ATI GPU
24/02/2018 16:03:15 | Milkyway@Home | Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks

Hosts 766764 and 766741

Tried to reset and remove/reattach to project, also to reinstall latest boinc but always with same result..

Another Host 766182 attached to project before maintenance downloads workunits without hiccups

(EDIT)
after some time it downloads the executable and the first workunit.. but then updates always returns "Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks"

I think this says BOINC client sees CPU and AMD cards:

24/02/2018 15:57:41 | Milkyway@Home | Requesting new tasks for CPU and AMD/ATI GPU

But preferences say you are only set to receive NV tasks:
24/02/2018 15:57:42 | Milkyway@Home | Tasks for CPU are available, but your preferences are set to not accept them.
..so nothing is downloaded.

766764 has tasks but 766741 has nothing. Is Win10/766741 the one with the above line about NV tasks?

Also not receiving any ATI workunits on my side, just like Andrea Tosatto:

26/02/2018 00:45:10 | Milkyway@Home | Sending scheduler request: To fetch work.
26/02/2018 00:45:10 | Milkyway@Home | Requesting new tasks for AMD/ATI GPU
26/02/2018 00:45:12 | Milkyway@Home | Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks

And this on a new host as well as on an old one. Already since 14h or so like this. (Had anyway no internet before that so I am not sure when the problem started but it seems like the server update is creating a new problem..)

My bad: only the new host (setup today) exhibits this behavior. The old one does get new tasks.
The master file also did not download and the milkyway folder is created but empty.
A bit weird..can it be that the server update causes a bug with new hosts or should I try something else on my side?

Try restting the Project on that pc and see if that helps, you will lose all of your existing tasks both cpu and gpu if you have any but it could fix it too. In an extreme move you could try copying the file from the pc that works to the one that doesn't.

Thanks, resetting the project did not help.
I do get a message that the master file was successfully downloaded however the milkyway folder in programdata is still empty and I still get the 0 tasks available message.
Will try your other suggestion to copy the master file from the older host when home.

Yes me too. Reset project, detached and reattached about 5 times. Even uninstalled and reinstalled BOINC. No tasks, won't even download executable file.

No tasks for anyone at the moment seems to be a database error.

Yes the database was unavailable for a while. And indeed my old host can now again get new tasks.
However this is entirely a different problem from the fact that NEW hosts seem not to be able to get either masterfile nor any task at all at the moment.
I really hope the admins can look into it...

There was a database connection issue over the weekend. Sorry, somehow the max connection limit in our database config got changed back to an old value. I have it fixed now and it shouldn't be an issue anymore.

Sorry for the issues.

I have already an app_config.xml because I pasted my usual setup in the milkyway folder.
Otherwise it is empty.

Last update, and in the hope of narrowing the problem:
-I again deleted milkyway, re-attached the project. The milkyway folder still being empty after that I pasted the contents of the milkyway folder from my working old host.

Same result. Still reporting 0 tasks.

Reinstall the video card drivers, you are running Win10 and if you look you will see it's not using a driver that is capable of crunching.

Here is a Win7 machine that works:
2] AMD AMD Radeon HD 7870/7950/7970/R9 280/R9 280X series (Tahiti) (3072MB) driver: 1.4.1848 OpenCL: 1.2

Here is the Win10 one that doesn't:
AMD AMD Radeon HD 7800 Series (2048MB) OpenCL: 1.2

This is a common problem with Win10!!
