Hi; Forgive me if I am posting this in the wrong place, I know very little about computers except to be dangerous so I need some help with things like you do here.I keep getting a "waiting to run" notification on my BOINC Manager. It seems to happen on all the groups I am involved with. I really appreciate being able to do this. Who knows, maybe I can help find a new gravity wave, asteroid or comet or even some little green men too !!! Thank you for your help and I apologize if I put this in the wrong place. Thunder |

I noticed that some of my tasks said the same thing "waiting to run" while Boinc worked on other tasks. It eventually started them. |

I think it simply means that processing on the running task(s) needs to be finished before it will start a waiting task. Note that processing can also be shifted to a task in another project. If you look under Computing Preferences/Computing, you will see Switch between tasks every [ ] minutes. I set mine to 1000 minutes and that setting generally allows the running MWaH task to finish before BOINC starts others. That is probably more useful for folks who run multiple projects and want to work down the task queues somewhat evenly. But I have read in the BOINC forum that some applications are not so well behaved, so anything can happen in a multi-project scenario. MWaH seems to play by the rules, but I also see that it will sometimes abandon a project that is well along and close to reporting, so it can start another one with the same due date. Not sure if that is because my 1000 minutes setting has elapsed, or because the other project has more priority, or something else. You can always suspend running and other waiting tasks to force BOINC to run a desired waiting task. That could be handy if you have a task waiting that is due sooner than others, to keep from busting the due date. HTH chuck |

Hi; The section called Number Crunching would be a better place next time It could also be that you are using your pc and your settings have it set to not crunch while you are using your pc. Down by the clock click on the up arrow and you will see a Boinc icon double click it, or do a right click and then another right click, to 'open boinc manager'. Once there click on options then computing preferences, that will open a new box that under the 'computing' tab includes a section called 'when to suspend'. By default Boinc is set to not crunch while you are using your pc. |
