I was able to fix the error with the not downloadabel exe. I downloaded the file from https://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/download/ and copied it manually to the project folder. Greetings Marcus |

the banner is still way to huge. it takes almost 1/3 of my 1080p screen...why? I have to scroll to post in the forum... On my 1920x1080 it takes up more than half of the screen, and is most annoying when paging through tasks, as it always insists on redrawing it at the top forcing me to scroll down every time to see any tasks. For me I would prefer no banner at all. We all know where we are after all, and we don't really need it, and that would surely be the quickest way of solving the problem. I might add that on the top of my 1200 x 1920 portrait monitor it looks fine and doesn't interfere too much but even then it is still irritating when looking at tasks and on the forum. |

I was able to fix the error with the not downloadabel exe. I downloaded the file from https://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/download/ and copied it manually to the project folder. Thanks for the advise, downloading the .exe file sorted it out for me too (from the 3rd attempt). |

Quick go at a new banner for you... I think that is a great picture, but to me, banners are for home pages. Do we really need to see banners everywhere? I, for one, don't think so. |

Tried restarting BOINC Tried restarting rigs. No success. Furthermore the project does not automatically fetch new work. It does so about three times (every 1:30 min), then stops indefinitely. Both rigs running MW have this "feature" since server migration. As all users always say, I also say: "I have not changed anything on my side" ... Would appreciate your tips and/or help. THANKS. |

Hi newman, I take it, that this is your reply to my message 68360 ? I was able to fix the error with the not downloadabel exe. I downloaded the file from https://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/download/ and copied it manually to the project folder. Tried that already, does not help, since when requesting new work, the manager tries to download it again - of course this still doesn't work. Or did I misunderstand something ? Cheers SFV |

Hi newman, Here's the trick you are missing to get it to work (mine just d/l 50 taks and is running). Get the file and backup the milkyway folder to a temp folder. Set to no new work then reset the project. Copy the contents back to the new folder. edit the cc_config.xml file and add: <dont_check_file_sizes>1</dont_check_file_sizes> Use advanced -> options -> read config files Set Milkyway to accept new work. Should get and run tasks now ignoring the d/l. Probably should set <dont_check_file_sizes>0</dont_check_file_sizes> in a week after issues are resolved. |

Hi, Sorry if this has been mentioned before but milky way is not updating to any collective stats pages (free dc etc). Obviously I know this is not a massive priority issue but was just wondered if you had a timescale for this? Thanks for getting the new server up a running! |

The problem based on other threads is that new users joining the project are unable to download either the Windows or the Linux application because of incorrect or missing file verifications or security certificates in the server software. You either have to wait for the server software to be fixed or jump through hoops doing manual downloads. The servers also haven't exported any stats since the new servers were brought online. The scripts for generating the stats file are incorrect or missing now. |

It seems like I can't get any work until my queue runs completely dry and then I'll download 200 more tasks. Those 200 will complete and the queue will continue to drop. Tasks are being reported immediately but no tasks are downloaded to keep the queue topped off. If I try to manually update I'm just told the last request was too recent. That continues until everything is gone, I run a couple of tasks from a backup project and then I can update to get 200 more tasks. The older server would keep tasks at 80 pretty much at all times without user intervention. |

Same thing here on 2 machines. Won't download full limit allowed like it use to. Nothing I change or do works to get more that what you are describing. Also, stats not reporting to sites will be an issue if MW is picked for this upcoming Sprint lol |

Likely the change to the new server software. They put in a lot changes lately into the master. Some of it very unfriendly to the ways things were run in the past. Work fetch module needs major updating IMHO. |

Quick go at a new banner for you... Most likely it's part of the Boinc website template that all the projects use. I don't think they can change certain things/layouts/requirements. I'll try and work on a better one with the "MilkyWay@home" text and also add the Rensselaer logo as well. |

Kinda curious where you got that MilkyWay image. Do you know the attribution? It reminds me of an image by Robert Gendler. One of the astro-imaging gods and gurus I have always followed in my hobby. |
