Multiple GPU Problem

I have been running Windows 10 and BOINC for some time with a NEVIDA 750 TI GPU and recently decided to add a second GPU, a NEVIDIA 1050 TI. It is not recognized by BOINC and Windows Device Manager shows a "Code 43" error. I downloaded the latest NEVIDA driver, no change. Tried it with and without a "dummy" HMDI plug installed, no change. And, of course, Windows does not recognize a second display. It shows up with GPU-Z, which shows the same GPU usage as for the 750 (which I do not believe is correct). Do I need to change something in the BIOS, or what??

Do both cards show in the BIOS? Maybe the card is bad or incorrectly installed, not pushed all the way into the slot. Is correct PCIe power connected to the new card?
You need to get both cards seen by Windows before tackling BOINC.

You can try the Wagnard DDU utility to completely remove the graphics drivers and then reinstall them.

Once you get Windows to recognize both cards you will have to edit the BOINC cc_config.xml file and change the <use_all_gpus>1</use_all_gpus> parameter from 0 to 1, or BOINC will only use the new 1050 card because the cards are dissimilar and BOINC will only recognize the most powerful card for use.

I run six WU at once for an average time to completion of 10 seconds per WU.... eight is as fast, but my PC can't keep up with the multiple GPUs.

The machine is limited to only four cores/eight threads, and the GTX 970 needs some CPU time too !

I now have an X79 system with a six core/12 thread CPU to play with, but it doesn't like my memory, so having to manually step through all the DRAM variables.
