When i disable gpu and enable cpu in project settiings at https://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/prefs.php?subset=project and press update in boinc manager it still requests gpu tasks at the first attempt, and only the next time it requests cpu tasks. |

That problem (or feature) has been around for a long time. I think the only workaround is to specified "no new work" before doing the update and then resume work |

The question in my opinion is, why don't the MW folks get it fixed?? |

Because they don't know how. A previous dev/admin did some custom configuration of the BOINC server code and never documented it for later admins to show what was done. These configuration tweaks are not visible to the admins and aren't apparently using standard BOINC mechanisms. So unless they completely start from scratch and rebuild/compile the standard BOINC server code, what we have now is what we get. |

Then I vote for starting from scratch (can't they get help from other projects, if needed?), first it's annoying being stuck with BOINC 7.15 and getting a notice at least once per day about a new version is available, second how many new users leave again due the f****d up scheduler? |

It looks like not many users have left. General increase in user count since middle of August. About 20 new users each day according to the stats sites. There are dev resources available to the admins on the BOINC alpha/dev mailing list. They can ask for help there. I'm sure they have been directed there multiple times but have not availed themselves of the resource. |

I have started moving my "Einstein" racks over here now that the weather has cooled. When SETI was functioning there was no problem mining GRC at Einstein. Ever since you and Steve moved from SETI things have turned down for me there!. l can never catch up with you two over at Einstein! |

Hahaha, sorry to rain on your parade. I just try and run projects with the lowest Gridcoin user count and for projects that I have historically run. Seti, Einstein and MW are the longest in participation. Einstein, GPUGrid and Universe has been the primary focus of the GPUUG team since Seti ended. We are still doing app development work on the Einstein GRP app with Petri doing the heavy lifting as usual. Ian does the deployment. I am one of only four active members still crunching for MW. MW is not as popular as Einstein. Has more Gridcoiners attached also reducing the RAC percentage. My biggest magnitudes are with Einstein and Universe. GPUGrid also when they have constant work and are whitelisted. |
