Message 71230 - Posted: 9 Oct 2021, 17:30:17 UTC

In the last few days I am getting a lot of Validation Errors. In the past, I would get a few errors once in a while, which I could live with. However, the last few days the error rate has become unacceptable. This large number of errors is wasting a lot of computer power and time. Below is a listing of errors:

Oct. 9 5 errors
Oct. 8 8 errors
Oct. 7 3 errors
Oct. 6 1 error
Oct. 5-3 0 errors
Oct. 2 1 error

You can see the error rate has become unacceptable the last 3 days. Is this a problem with MilkyWay@home or is it an error on my computer? I am running a Dell computer with the latest Windows 10.

Can someone please help me! Thanks.

I don't see anything there that fixes the issue!

Is it possible somehow cancel it on server side?

Hi Brent I share your concerns, I seem to be wasting 15,000 - 18,000 cpu seconds per day on invalid units, usually 3 or 4. I run with Core I7 and up to date W10. I guess at some point I might stop if it persists.

Message 71235 - Posted: 10 Oct 2021, 14:36:26 UTC - in response to Message 71234.

Have processed 33 work Units today. 5 were immediately invalid (15%) wasting a total of 20,000 + CPU seconds.. 6 are still pending validation.

Coupled with yesterdays invalid another 10,000 Cpu seconds.. 35,000 seconds over 2 days wasted.

Looking at the WU results every WU that exceeds its estimated time is very likely to be immediately invalid.

To much time wasted, wont be doing any more .

If the xml file for a task has
<number_WUs> 7 </number_WUs>
then it should be aborted, as it will result in a validate error. Apologies that I haven't been able to implement a server-side fix for this yet, I have been (& still am) busy with other projects and travel. If I get some spare time this week I will try to look into it.

Is this still an issue? I'm getting a bunch of high CPU seconds invalids. What is/are the XML file names? Boinc_task_state.xml? init_data.xml? Or others? There are 5 of them each with over 5,000 seconds.

Your pc's are hidden so it's hard to tell what's going on

hmmmm. Well that's annoying! I have poked around in MW@home and boinc, and it is not readily apparent how to toggle from hidden to viewable. How is that done? There are no available options in the edit profile section.

Hello,

Belated happy new years to you as well.

I've gone through and purged things so you should notice a lower number of validate errors shortly.
