Hey Everyone, I think that it would be useful to have a general thread in News for random problems or notices that don't relate to any other thread, or don't require their own thread. Recently we've been using the Validator Outage thread for this, but it's better to have a designated place for it. Feel free to post comments/concerns/general project status-related thoughts on this thread. Best, Tom |

Just out of curiosity, what is the reason for the considerable drop in RAC in the last few days? Is there an influx of new users or are there less credits per task? Cheers, Mp |

Hi, I would like work units requiring more power from the graphics card, currently my 1080ti is used at ~50% power with a 80% gpu use, it would be good for work units to use more power like that of Folding @ home which are at ~75-100% power with 85-100% gpu use of an 1080ti. it is up to the user to set the maximum power usable by the gpu (Power Limit (%)). best regards. |

Just out of curiosity, what is the reason for the considerable drop in RAC in the last few days? Is there an influx of new users or are there less credits per task? I've noticed the same drop in RAC, not sure if something is happening since I'm not running 24/7 but still it seems strange. |

To get higher utilization of the gpu would require rewriting the application to be more efficient. The application is in need of more parallelization and get rid of unnecessary timing delays in the coding to get up to 100% utilization . Very few projects have skilled enough developers to use all of a gpu capabilities. I only know of 4 projects that ever utilized up to 100% of a gpu. That was Seti with the special app, GPUGrid and Minecraft and now Einstein with the improved 1.28 application. That improvement was from our Team developer who also wrote the Seti special application. We would need Petri to get interested in Milkyway and have the source code for the gpu application made available to him. |

Bundling was done to reduce server load as the tasks are so short. |

Thank you for the explanation. RAC is down approximately 14 % over six days, and that rate is constant, meaning it will continue to fall for a couple more days, at least. Is that expected? How much change in RAC do you anticipate due to the new bundling, alone? |

Thank you for the explanation. 1. Stop looking at RAC, look at task time. In this case RAC is only a measure of if the server can keep up with validation. 2. The bundling was done years ago. |

I am currently investigating why the server went down last night, and why the number of tasks waiting for validation is so high. I will keep you posted as I find out more. |

Hello Tom Thanks for the update. I am still experiencing major difficulties in reporting and requesting tasks although the site pages seem better, until I click on view tasks and this struggles for minutes, a similar difficulty as reporting and requesting tasks but from a totally different source. |

It looks like the problem is only with separation WUs, not nbody WUs. Can anyone confirm this, or are people having issues with both types of WUs? |

Work on GPU N-body is slow but still happening. Some major progress was made over the summer, but I wouldn't expect it anytime soon. |

Be nice if it included Intel Gpu’s. |
