Hi Everyone,

I'll be working for the rest of the night to try to resolve the large number of workunits waiting for validation. This will involve the server going up and down for maintenance, and certain processes may be turned off for periods of time tonight. I'm hoping that things are resolved tonight, but it is definitely possible that things may not be resolved by tomorrow.

Thanks for you patience and support!

Thank you!

Idea: not send out new work until the pile is gone.

I'm doing some work on the DB at the moment, and it's taking a while. I will continue work on this tomorrow.

Thanks again for your continued patience.

Until then I unfortunately have to keep processes turned off. Take this as an opportunity to go read a book, or watch a movie, or do that thing you've been putting off for too long :)

Or, letting your computer get its hard earned rest!

>>> hard earned rest!

Most people connect their machines to several projects so outages like this one come and go largely unnoticed. BOINC is supposed to work like that, no effort required, easy to install, and basically forget unless you are interested.

Hello,

I am running Max OS 10.14.6 (Mojave) on a mid-2012 Macbook Pro. My Bionic Revision is 7.16.19. Do I have any reason for concern about the recent notices to update? I do not see a newer revision for Mac OS.

Thank you,

John Martin

No Problem. Thanks for all of your hard work and dedication to this project!

When servers start throwing errors, I usually like to stand close to them with a mug full of coffee and announce that I'm feeling very clumsy :)

Kind Regards,
Cliff

NO you do not, Boinc uses the Linux numbering system where each set of numbers escalates until they come out with a whole new version, they are banning Boinc with the middle number lower than 2, your middle number is 16 so you are fine.

Tried to bring things up after DB adjustments, but the transitioner crashed (and has a huge backlog now), so that will take some time to resolve.

To make things better, I can't access the server at the moment because the RPI VPN is down (not sure if it has anything to do with the AWS outage). I'll be taking a look at things again once I have access.

I've brought things back up, and the number of tasks waiting for validation are dropping. I'm going to be monitoring things to make sure that they are actually fixed.

In the future we plan on doing this extra DB maintenance regularly in order to avoid going down unexpectedly again. I might need to flush out the transitioner again soon, but I don't think that will impact client-side things at all.

Thanks for all your patience, it's been an interesting few days.
