Thanks for the update, Tom. I hope the drive comes soon. |

There is a large number of workunits that are waiting to be validated. I think that this is because the server is running more slowly while it is degraded. When we get the drive back we can restore full functionality of the server. Hopefully that isn't too long, but in the meantime this big drop in RAC might just be how things are at the moment.I'm guessing not having a spare drive handy is a lack of funds? You should do a collection on the home page like sidock does. |

General question, what is the current status of the project? Currently have no work units - 06/03/22. Is it due to Server Problems? Sorry a newbie just checking. Scififan4242 |

It is a good guess that the lack of WUs is due to the server issues, as it was down for a while yesterday. I just got some WUs, that were all resends, it might take a while for the system to work through all the backlog and send enough WUs to make us all happy again. It is up now though and that is good. Thanks to those who are working on Sunday to fix it. |

Server apparently went down and came back up. I'm not sure what is causing the problems with the transitioner backlog and the number of stuck WUs waiting for validation. I am running the transitioner catch-up script, and maybe that will dislodge some things. |

Things are going to come down for a little while, I'll bring them back up in a bit. |

Looks like I was able to make a dent in the transitioner backlog, as well as the number of WUs awaiting validation. I will probably run that script again a couple of times over the next couple days to see if we can't get things moving. |

Is anyone getting any WUs? Status says there are plenty, but I'm not getting any. Yes, the server gives WUs in a random pattern. Even if one requests work manually, the server sometimes sends a random amount of WUs (as far as I can tell) and sometimes doesn't send anything at all. Totally weird. |

Delete double postIf you edit it to be two spaces and nothing else, it will self delete. You'd think they'd just have a delete button. |

I'm getting my max amount of tasks, but not many are being counted. my VALIDATION PENDING queue is up to 2573 and climbing. This started happening last week with the first outage. Hope I will still get credit for them. |

Same problem here. Validation Pending is piling up! |

Everyone's pending validation is growing. The system now has over 3 million pending (3208960). I'm guessing from what Tom has said that when the drive is replaced that the system will function better and start to process the pending results faster. We should all get our credits, it will just be a bit delayed until the system is at full health. Pending results are being processed at the moment, just at a slower pace than usual. As a Milky Way newbie close to getting a new star badge I know this can be frustrating, but I know it will be fine if I'm patient. |

Yes, don't worry, you'll still get full credit for everything that you crunch! It will just take a little patience, unfortunately. |

WOOOOOOOWWWWW!! I had no idea that you could do that and I've been doing these boards for YEARS!! Thank you Peter!!I found it out by mistake by trying to make a duplicate message of mine just be blank. It wouldn't let me make it empty or even one space, but two worked better than I thought, it vanished. I thought I'd told you before but I must be thinking of someone else. BTW I'm up to 9 CPUs and 6 GPUs now, although not running them all 24/7 until I can afford the electricity. I've been buying up faulty GPUs and encouraging them to work. The last one usually refuses to output a display, or if it does it has blue lines down it, but it will do Milkyway or Primegrid (but nothing more complicated than that) and I can access the computer remotely so I don't need an output. I gave it a good home and it was under half price. |

Could these server issues be causing excessive number of work units being sent? The past few days I have been sent more than twice the amount of work than the system can handle before the Deadline, and that assumes BOINC running 100% all 4 cores, but only 25% is allocated to Milkyway as the box is also contribuiting to other projects. So reality is more like 8 times assuming fair share with the other projects. I have set BOINC to run always to try to help clear the units, but I seem to be getting more with the same 3/11 deadline. Thanks Dave |

No, that is up to your own settings and the initial ETA/runtime of the tasks. |

No, that is up to your own settings and the initial ETA/runtime of the tasks.Actually it happens to me all the time with many projects. Boinc is absolutely useless at working out times. I just got 2 weeks of work from LHC with my buffer set to 1 day! To really confuse it, put a limit on how many of a certain task (say nbody) can run at once in your app config file. Boinc will senselessly keep downloading thousands of them then realising it's not allowed to run them, then get something from another project, then it will get more and more again and again. |
