Message 73718 - Posted: 27 May 2022, 3:54:11 UTC - in response to Message 73704.

In October of 1969 I took an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic;
There was no expiration date.

Bill F.,

Interesting, that's the same time I took the same oath, in Chicago, for the US Army. What a coincidence!

And just 2 short years before I took mine for the US Navy, I took my oath in the Pentagon from my dad who worked there at the time. Both my dad and his boss the General were beaming from ear to ear.

23 Oct. 1963 for me. I was still in high school and joined the Army National Guard. From there I cross-service transferred to the USAF in Dec.'64 -- to the 1st Air Commando Wing, which became part of what is now known as the USAF Special Operations Command, in '74. The 1st SOW was based both in Hurlburt Field, Florida and in England AFB, Louisiana, where I was. Thank you for your service.

Yes Thanks to all who have or are serving. Just 7% of the population have stepped forward and raised our hands and written that blank check.

Yup that's what the militaries of the World are all about and you either learn to listen to someone who has no clue what they are saying or find yourself doing something even worse!! Bosses come and go and every once in awhile you get a good or even very good one but there are alot of people who prove the "Peter Principle" to a tee!! The "Peter Principle" is the idea that people get promoted to their highest level of inefficiency and then stagnate there, meaning they did SUCH a good job at their old job so let's promote them to this new job and hopefully they will do just as well which of course most don't. Someone who can push buttons really well doesn't automatically make then a good widget maker!!

Of course its Authoritarian, its the military? A combat soldier can be ordered to do some really counterintuitive things. Without an authoritarian system, those things wouldn't get accomplished. The notion of decision by committee when you got bullets flying over head will get you killed.

I've seen something similar, people promoted to get them out of a job where they're doing harm through stupidity.

Now that I have blocked "Mr I've been Banned X number of times" the forum is a nicer place.

Admins have nothing better to do than to warn everyone. They are the lowest form of life. But at least you worked out how to block someone instead of crying to the nearest admin like a pathetic little girl.
