Hi, I'm new to Milkyway@home and apologize if this is answered elsewhere. I noticed that newly issued tasks for workunits have Minimum quorum and initial replication set to 1 (example). However, in all my observed cases, the initial results go into a "Validation pending" status upon completion and then into "Completed, validation inconclusive" after the validator processes the result. It is at this point that it is flagged to be issued to another client (example).

Are there cases where the validator is able to successfully validate a result after a single return? If not, would it not be better (and less work on the validator) to have the workunit issued (and returned) twice before the validator has a pass at it? I seem to recall a few other BOINC projects (WCG and Einstein@home) working this way.

Each task is given an internal 'expected value' that must be met for the task when it's sent back after we finish crunching, no they don't crunch the tasks in house first and yes the process is a security feature that most Boinc Projects use. The idea is the inhouse Server can process the tasks faster than a 2nd or 3rd or 4th etc user so we don't have to wait as long for our credits.
