On my account page, there are already 518 results that are shown as "Validation inconclusive". Looking into the WU details, there are two results each shown and a third one says "unsent", so the server didn't sent a third WU for validation purposes. Will the third WU be sent or is this a side effect of the recent server trouble? |

I believe that "unsent" means "waiting to be sent", not "did not send for xyz reason". The long timescale is probably just due to the server troubles. |

Thanks Tom, let's wait and see. I know there is no way to trigger the server to sent those missing third WUs. It might happen in the future or not. |

I am getting a ton of inconclusives as well, do we have any idea why? |

I am getting a ton of inconclusives as well, do we have any idea why? Simple the validator doesn't trust the result So another task is being sent to another machine to validate your result |

Seems to me all of my N-Body work units are Validation Inconclusive now and the number keeps going up |

I have over 3000 now on Validation inconclusive, the machine is 100% stable, something wrong at the server end? |

At the moment it seems several of the servers are offline. https://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/server_status.php |

I just turned them off for a moment to transition some WUs. They will be back up shortly. |

A great deal of my current WUs go straight to the 'validation inconclusive' pile. Also, the majority of my 'validation pending' WUs went straight there, too. To me, that is very disappointing, a pure waste of my time and resources. |

Not necessarily a bad thing, your wingman ie the other task for a quorum of 2 might be faulty and validation inconclusive is just to ensure that the other person that result is valid |

when a result is deemed inconclusive a new WU is created and put at the back of the queue. Right now both types of WUs have long queues of many millions, so the new WU has been created, and it will be sent out, but because the queue of WUs ready to send is so long it will be a few days. The systems appear to be working well now, but it will take it a while to work through the backlog of WU resends in the queue due to past issues. I don't know about the nbody queue but in the separation queue I'm getting WUs created March 31 now. I don't know how the project defines "trusted machine" and how often it sends out resends to confirm "trusted machine" status, but I'll guess with all the system hiccups a bunch of us may have lost "trusted machine" status, and it will take a while for us to earn it back. |

Validation Inconclusive just means the task hasn't been validated yet, give them time and most or even all should be validated |

To me, that is very disappointing, a pure waste of my time and resources. As others have pointed out, tasks in "Validation inconclusive" will almost certainly validate eventually (unless there are hardware errors!) -- it is only towards the completion of a set of stripes that differences between systems can result in genuine validation errors. That just leaves the matter of why retries are needed in the first place. Unfortunately, it appears that one side effect of the long delay in shipping out retries during the server problems is that tasks were getting tagged for a retry whether it was needed or not; you'll see a lot of Valid tasks with three successful results! Other users have mentioned other aspects of why there are so many retries, such as loss of "trusted status"... As none of this should alter the final award of credit, you'll get your gridcoins eventually :-) Cheers - Al. |

..... Look here old chap, Your bluntness cannot be excused. I understand fairly well how MW@H should work (also thanks to the useful comments from other contributors here). However, it's pretty obvious that the project does not work as intended at the moment, does it? Now, some of these inconclusive WUs started to appear in the 'error' pile (several hundred of these already) as 'timed out - no response'. They are not going to be 'validated at some point', are they? That's what I call a pure waste of my time and resources. In my opinion, it's useful when there is a problem to point that out. Whether the admins want or can solve it is another matter. From my 'non-understanding' point of view, the admins should have canceled (deleted, purged... as a more knowledgeable person you can insert the right term here) all these compromised tasks and started with completely new and fresh WUs. Instead, they are circulating millions of these WUs from a month ago again and again through the hosts resulting in the current waste of time and money. So, I'd suggest that, if you don't have anything useful to contribute, just keep your comments to yourself. |
