I have 17 tasks waiting for validation, but none of them have been sent to another computer that I can see.

After you finish a task it is either validated or sent to the queue for some other computer to crunch to see if the two of you come up with a statistically identical result. After you get 10 validated tasks in a row you will start to see them stop being sent to other people BUT just one invalid task and it starts all over again. They pre-test each task so they have a basic idea of what they are looking for in the result you send in and if it's not there your 10 in a row starts all over again.

Thanks. It looked like they were sitting there an unusual amount of time. Now all but two have been validated.

Sometimes when the tasks to send list is very long it can take a few days or more to get to them, you can mostly tell the check files by the _1 at the end of the file name. Technically they could also be from the original computer having too many tasks and some timing out and causing a resend but with the short tasks that hopefully doesn't happen too often.

Just rejoined and 'validation inconclusive' represents nearly 1/4 of submitted results over 3 non-overclocked, linux run pc's.

Running CPU only and wingmen appear to be strictly GPU driven. Could architectural differences explain this?

For some reason on this project, "validation inconclusive" means "awaiting validation". Can you check some of the work units and see what the wingman is doing?

Also once your computer has run them for a while, it only checks the odd one, once the server trusts it.

Seems to me all of my N-Body work units are Validation Inconclusive now and the number keeps going up

Are you overclocking or anything like that because that can affect the results, also what else is the machine doing while crunching because things like gaming etc can create problems as well sometimes

I stop Boinc completely (especially GPU) while gaming as the computer can crash or run the game slowly.

I was talking to Arcturus but you answered his question better than I did. Yes gaming and oc's can both affect the validation of tasks at most projects so you either should do what you do or be very careful about your resources

Timeline in virtually all cases is the same:

- wingman reports first with a validation inconclusive
- my reports the same
- 3rd machine kicks in with 'in progress' status

Hope that's what your asking, Peter?

Hmmm that is strange since you are the 1st wingman you should be validating the tasks, so either your machine is flaky or the original pc is flaky, unless of course it's the task itself that's flaky in which case the Project will have to figure that out. Do your tasks eventually validate after the 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc wingman?

Sorry for the confusion. Technically I'm the wingman as the timeline starts with the other client reporting first.

As to what eventually happens as I'm not sure if/when the inconclusives morph to valid.

Hi all,

I'm new to the project. but I noticed most of my "valid" results are with no wingman at all. I know through the grapevine that there were validation issues recently. was the quorum requirement removed? or removed from the vast majority of submitted results? and only spot checking some?

Got fed up of Einstein? Or popped in here because their server was critically ill full?

I thought what happened here was you got your tasks checked by a wingman until the server learned to trust your machine, then it only checks every 50th one or something. Strange that's happening to you if you only just got here. I've heard nothing about a change.

But since you've got 4 million credits here, I assume you've done quite a lot of tasks already. With the powerful shit you've got, maybe doesn't take long to get trusted.

The project uses adaptive replication algorithm in the server software as far as I know. Always has.

I've got 8 hosts and 11 GPUs and I often move them about. So I guess I'm screwing up this system a bit. Or does the server know I've changed or added a GPU in a host?

Strange most projects don't use adaptive validation.

still crunching full speed at Einstein, as fast as it can between gamma ray and BRP7, but I just got a TitanV which is best used here. will do more per watt here than on Einstein. of course if this project has some troubles it can just as easily move back to Einstein.

a single titan V can do upwards of 3M/day with the right tuning.

oh ok. that makes sense, just wasn't sure if it was the norm or not.

still unclear how they determine inconclusives if it's not being compared to anything lol

Oh, I thought you had a few of those. What are those ones you have watercooled about 4 in one PC you showed a picture of in Einstein?

Odd, I see it as 7.5Tflops DP, pretty much the same as all my old Tahitis together, and I get 1 maybe 1.5 million credits a day.
