That wouldn't fall under "E312xx".

Hmmm, threads or cores ?

From the already given Intel overview just click on the links to the detailed specs.
Most CPUs have 4 cores/8 threads and hyper-threading. Only a few don't.

Hint:

But none with 12, which means it's not all one computer.

I didn't reply to your post.
(You don't even notice when anybody agrees with you, don't you?)

Don't blame BOINC for this - it just reports what it gets from the computer's BIOS.
Hence, blame the BIOS manufacturer.
Much better: Don't blame anybody.

I never said you disagreed.

CPU-Z always reports the actual CPU. Boinc as usual isn't doing it's job properly. But I've found something with even worse programming, Folding at Home!

Feel free to use CPU-Z for scientific calculations.
;-)

Another option would be that you improve the BOINC code and implement a reliable method like that from CPU-Z.
Or ... (many more options...)

CPU-Z is free software, it can't have been that difficult to do what they did. I'm not a programmer, if I was I'd do my job correctly. Would you expect a bricklayer to be an expert on car engines? Would you deny him the ability to point out a mechanic was incompetant?

Its a single machine, IBM x3550 M4 1u server running RHEL8/Virt. 6 VMs (2CPUs Per) running ubuntu/docker in a SWARM.

I needed an excuse to learn docker and docker SWARM in February, so this was my excuse to learn it **SHRUGS**

Why is Boinc reporting it as E3?

Because that's reporting the Virtual CPU, its a VM, the above is the physical CPUs being used on the host (Answering the other members question).

Please cancel 100% of any tasks that you don't actually want. These do cost us money and it's essential that we at least believe our contributions are meaningful.

I don't understand your comment "These do cost us money" can you clarify please?

Any tasks that aren't finished on time end up in exactly the same queue as aborted tasks, the same place we get all of our tasks from. Waiting for verification is a process and sometimes it takes longer than other times but as long as the Project is still running and the Server is doing what it's supposed to be doing all tasks will be validated at some point.

I misspoke and said "tasks" rather than work units. Perhaps I am misunderstanding? I was referring to the project administrator referring to the prospect of canceling untasked work units, presumably via the project management page, so that the turnaround time on validation would (indirectly) become shorter.

Not sure exactly what you mean, but i hate it when projects let you continue to run a task you've already started, which was a retread of someone who returned it late, now they don't actually need it any more, just because they don't want to deprive you of points. So your CPU cycles are useless.

This is a problem dated 14.04.2022 that has been long solved ...
Or maybe I'm missing out on something?
Have a great day!
