Sneak round to my house in the middle of the night and steal the Henley fuse. I'm surprised that doesn't happen more often. An excellent way to annoy your neighbour. Thanks to someone who donated more cards, I managed to do this....Oh for cryin' out loud! How am I ever gonna catch up now!?!? |

Thanks to someone who donated more cards, I managed to do this.... You mean those are all REAL gpu's in a single machine? Holy cow!!! |

Yes, those are real GPUs. No it's not all of them, some are on other machines. I have in total: 1 Fury. 1 Baffin. 12 Tahitis. Most are in the garage, which is very cosy, despite the door and two windows being open. There are two Amazon parrots in there (a retired breeding pair) who don't seem to mind the noise and love the heat. I had to install another socket. Running all that off one 13A plug kept blowing the fuse and making the flex very warm. I use Gridcoin for Boinc and Curecoin for Folding@Home. Might aswell make a tiny amount while doing something useful. The coins themselves are utterly pointless, they never even pay for the electricity, nevermind the hardware. |

Yes, those are real GPUs. No it's not all of them, some are on other machines. I have in total: Here in the US on a 15A 120V circuit I found I can run 6 cpu's with a single gpu in each one but if I turn on a 7th one it pops the circuit, wires are in the wall so no idea if they are warm or not but no charred ends. I now only use 20A circuits, still 120V though. I use Gridcoin for Boinc and Curecoin for Folding@Home. Might aswell make a tiny amount while doing something useful. Just think though the more we make right now the more it will be worth when they go back up again, ie GC went up 34% just yesterday!! You must be rocking the Magnitude on GC right now!! |

120V, dear me. We have proper 240V here. Just over 3kW per socket, and every socket in the house is the same, no hunting for the right one.Yes, those are real GPUs. No it's not all of them, some are on other machines. I have in total: Did you know PC PSUs are much less efficient (and also run hotter) using 120V? Assuming all yours are 85-265V like they are here, you'd be better just running a 240V circuit. I'm doing mostly Folding@Home just now, so Curecoin. I shall investigate the gridcoin price, thanks for the heads up.I use Gridcoin for Boinc and Curecoin for Folding@Home. Might aswell make a tiny amount while doing something useful. Uh..... looks like a massive downward trend to me: https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/gridcoin/ |

Yes GC and every other crypto thing went down but now most are on their way back up again, slowly like most everything else though Alot of things but the War in Ukraine, the gas prices going fricking crazy in the US and the US trying to slow down inflation and everything costing exponentially more so the US has instituted a LARGE interest rate hike, 3/4 of 1%, that hit the speculative markets the most. I don't know what other Countries are doing but they could be trying to do the same thing as well. Both inflation and the opposite, a recession, are very bad for economies in general and it's best to try and keep both under control which as one can imagine isn't very easy especially with the HUGE trillion dollar economies of today. |

Thanks to someone who donated more cards, I managed to do this.... What power supply(s) do you have? |

So basically two government screwups. Over the top covid restrictions and a pretend war against Russia.Yes GC and every other crypto thing went down but now most are on their way back up again, slowly like most everything else though |

Anything I can get my hands on. A decent PC supply (I have two) like Corsair. A Chinese piece of crap PSU (like CIT, I have several), you can run those at about half the rated power or they either drop voltage or overheat or go bang. An "LED power supply", 12V only up to 1kW silver things about the size of two VHS tapes on top of each other, available on Ebay, used to be a lot cheaper, but now you might aswell get Corsair 2nd hand for a similar price. I have one I bought for GPUs, and one that came with a Scuba compressor - the compressor broke so I sold it for spares/repairs on Ebay, but the PSU is fine. Thanks to someone who donated more cards, I managed to do this....What power supply(s) do you have? |

Pretty sweet setup Peter especially for a lot of them being donated cards - any idea what the PPD will be? (3- 4 million?) I'm assuming you're using PCIe x1 risers for the cards? I have several double precision cards setup on x1 risers on a mining rack and they are the same speed at Milkyway as plugged into the motherboard directly. If you're willing to post pictures of the setup I'd be pretty curious as to how you have everything plugged in, how the power supplies are hooked up, etc. If not, no big deal. |

They're on Folding just now. That gets about 4 million per day. I use x1 risers, and also sometimes multiplexed risers (4 cards per slot), nothing slows down. You don't need bandwidth for any Boinc or Folding project. Some need CPU power but that's all. Nothing special about the hookup, it's simply plug in whatever's available. Add things when needed. For PC supplies I use cheap SATA to 6/8 PCI-E power adapters from China on Ebay, and a bit of paperclip shorting the on pin on the motherboard connector. For 12V only supplies, I just use mains flex with a PCI-E power connector stuck on the end with a connector strip. The connectors I've never found available on their own, so I buy the cheapest adapters and cut the other end off - that would be molex ones from Kenable in the UK for 80p each in bulk. |

Don't know your personal situation but might want to watch the p/kWh this winter. Cheers. |

Yeah when my electric company offered a me a fixed rate 3 times higher than what I was on, I did wonder! I need to buy some Russian gas. And linear isn't a good fit for that line. If this gets much worse it'll actually be worthwhile getting those inefficient solar panels. |
