In terms of the backlog of results waiting to be validated it would be sped up if would send out jobs with a higher number then _0 on themThey're probably already returned and we're waiting on the server getting round to comparing them. How about starting new thread under the Number Crunching section to discuss all this riveting banter? Let's leave all the News threads for the project admins to post their info so it doesn't get lost in off topic discussions. Don't reply. Just move it to a different thread not in the News section. |

Let's leave all the News threads for the project admins to post their info so it doesn't get lost in off topic discussions. Don't reply. Just move it to a different thread not in the News section. The first person to go off topic could make a new thread elsewhere and post the link to it as a reply. But would anyone bother? I suppose the second or third could do it if not already done, and hopefully as people see the link they follow it. Probably most wouldn't. Whenever an admin has shifted posts and emailed everyone a link to the new thread, the new thread has er.... Petered out. wonder if they cant shutdown separation because someone forgot the root password or something like that xd And here I got a huge thank you from my boss because the guy before me didn't write down any of his passwords so no one could get into any of his databases and he wasn't returning any calls or emails he was fired so I probably wouldn't have either., I made a copy of the databases, took them home and found a password cracker online and got right in. I went back to the work the next day and used the passwords I'd 'discovered' and they all worked great. I just now checked the Server Status page and it says this: Milkyway@home Separation 7770 1341506 Milkyway@home N-Body Simulation 2814 175474 So it seems that unless they are handling resends they haven't shut much down yet. |

I just now checked the Server Status page and it says this:They haven't shut down anything, the server is just struggling because of those 2.3M waiting for validation. |

They haven't shut down anything, the server is just struggling because of those 2.3M waiting for validation.Maybe they can't work out how to turn it off and are hoping it will crash? The above was double spaced between sentences, I apologise for the forum software ruining my post. |

Uh, yeah, so I just turned off Separation. Had every intention of doing it on Tuesday and then I forgot. Had a bunch of forms and other urgent things to fill out before my dissertation defense tomorrow. Anyways, we didn't forget the root password! :) |

But please keep me updated on what you all see from your end, I've never turned off a BOINC project before so I'm curious if what I did actually shut it off or not. |

Hope you didn't shut both off..... And a work fetch gives "No tasks are available for Milkyway@home N-Body Simulation" Working now, just a busy server I guess. #DELET I'm guessing since there seems to be no record of it anywhere. but on the plus side the server shouldn't crash anymore right ? |

And in progress tasks weren't aborted by server, so people who still have some will be running them and then send them into the void I guess... |
