Something is definately not working right. I`m now getting cpu limit of 8 on a quad. And I`m having issues connecting to the server off and on.

Decide to spend the day doing an Astropulse, and come back with a coffee to see a stack of MW and the rude message you cant have more than 20 at once you greedy sod.

That's your imagination at work. You can't have more than 5 you greedy sod. But it's better than having some other problem.

It's OK, we'll settle for 8 ;)

Well, he got you, Ice, didn't he! Rather than just taking you down to 8, he took you down to 5 and, after the screaming died down, he then mercifully granted relief by taking you back up to 8. And you were happy!

Classic Machiavelli.

Hi Bill, I didn't know Travis's other name was Machiavelli ;) But he certainly has a knack of keeping credit-guzzling quads at bay (I'm just jealous, I wish I had one :) I'll just have to keep squeezing my core 2 until I hear pips squeek ...

shhhh, don't let them in on it.

jAnyways, WUs for the new app (apart from the test ones that were being run) should be nice and long for all your greedy quad cpus. I'll probably have to reduce their credit a bit more so i can then raise it to keep people happy (as a benevolent project administrator), much along the same lines (kidding again!).

The test ones are running fine (except you keep sending different bunches of stars to fill up my disk!) so we're looking forward to a production version of this code.

The stars files should be sticky so you should only have to download them once. We're running searches over multiple sections of the sky so thats why there are different star files.

Do I have to enable the test app to get workunits? Or will the production application be replaced with the new application? If yes - when?

It should automatically download for you.

I'm running 3 hosts and have one workunit left on one of them. The other two are out of work. When they try to download new work I get "No Work Sent" According to the sever status there is work available. Why do I keep getting the No Work Sent message?

Are you using the Milksop app?

If so you need to shut down Boinc and remove the app_info.xml file from the projects/milkway folder.

Then restart Boinc and connect and you should download the app, star files and work...

Why?

Wrong estimation I guess. ;-)
The milksop app was very fast and the WUs were only crunching a few minutes.
If the new WUs need longer the estimation is wrong at first (and BOINC may even "panic" like now) but it will be learning. *grin*
Lovely greetings, Cori

The work ready to send, on the servers, has fallen very quickly since the new faster stock client was released.

I guess, the drop has been so quick that we could get no work from the server messages over the night.

Yeah. I just noticed I had some units with much longer estimates sitting in my work queue. Interesting to see if those estimates are correct.

I've gotten this most of the time since I started.
Doesn't expecting the unexpected make the unexpected the expected?
If it makes sense, DON'T do it.

I just had a look at mine, and, thanks to you, I noticed that I have them as well. Indeed quite a few have come through, and about 50% of the cache is made up of them.

I hope we are to be credited with more than 9.97 cobblestones for the longer crunch times?

The longer WUs are generating ~40 credits each (because they're about 4x longer).

What - there's other problems too???

Welcome to my world. I call for a full investigation of those other problems.
