At least one other project (i.e., Amicable numbers) which issues multi core WUs implements this feature. My pc has 6 cores (12 threads). Milkyway currently will send nbody tasks for the full amount of CPUs enabled in boinc task manager. I've searched both boinc help and the forums here. I've tried implementing the project (app) level config file examples I've found, but have had NO luck. sorry, but as much as like this project, I am not willing to let it hog my desktop entirely. I am very much looking forward to being able to run milkyway tasks again. Thanks, LLP, PhD, Prof. Engr. I think => I THINK I am. My thinking is not the source of my being, nor does it prove my existence to you. The Living Word of God World Youth Day |

I use this `app_config.xml` is it any different from others you have seen ? use notepad [or similar plain text editor] to copy the file into the milkyway@home project folder `ncpus` can be set to anything 2 or more , 16 is default normal . On a 12 thread system if it was set for ncpus 7 or more , it will run one task for nbody and leave plenty of cpu time for other work . If ncpus was set to 6 or less it will run two or more workunits Milkyway N-body sym mt - this works for me <app_config> <app_version> <app_name>milkyway_nbody</app_name> <plan_class>mt</plan_class> <avg_ncpus>7</avg_ncpus> </app_version> </app_config> Cosmology@home also has a website setting for max cpus per workunit . |

Cosmology@home also has a website setting for max cpus per workunit . Prime Grid has it built into the venues, which they have ALOT of, so it's really easy to tweak the settings for multiple pc or types of tasks. |
