Hello everyone,

Hello Everyone!

My name is Kyle Gimmy and I am working on MilkyWay@home for my PhD thesis. I am a bit new to the technical side of managing the server, but I plan to be more active on here and hope I will be able to help on some issues going forwards. I look forward to working with all of you!

Hello everyone,

Update
There is now a new version up on N-Body Orbit Fitting (version 1.93).
There was an issue in the way that the Windows executable was compiled and so it was getting a different result than the Linux executable. This meant that whatever OS was used to run the first successful task of a WU could only be validated by a machine running that same OS.
These new versions of the executables should be able to validate regardless of the OS used.

Thank you,
Kevin

Hello everyone,

The project URL https://milkyway-new.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway is an alias for https://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway, and both are supported by the current certificate. However, the alias will not auto-renew and will be deprecated upon expiration. To avoid issues, please ensure you use the correct URL: https://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway.
Using the alias may result in the following error after renewal:
"Milkyway@home | Scheduler request to https://milkyway-new.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway_cgi/cgi failed: SSL peer certificate or SSH remote key was not OK"

Thank you,
Kevin

Hello everyone,

We will be performing an update to the server starting 11 Nov 2025 at 15:00:00 UTC.
This will be the first of two updates.
The first update will be on the server itself in order to hopefully help with the estimated time for tasks and the number of tasks being sent out at a time.
The second update is for a new version of the N-body code that is still being tested.
More information on this will come when it is ready for deployment.

Thank you,
Kevin

Hi everyone,

The update to N-body version 1.94 will be happening tomorrow, November 18th at around 18:00 UTC. The server will down while the updates are taking place, which should not take more than an hour.
This update includes a new momentum likelihood component, an updated softening length, and various other small changes and bugfixes.
