So I read about users abandoning MW@H because of the recent problems and I thought "That's not cool. I'll have to stop working on Einstein tasks and go help out." Over the past few day I have seen the number unsent tasks grow as and the number of users dwindle. As of right now there are 8 active users in the last 24 hours. The number of tasks in progress has remained steady at around 44,000. I can't see the internal numbers, just what's on the page so I will try not to read too much into the numbers but I think the bottom has to be near with only 8 active uses on the project. |

As of right now there are 8 active users in the last 24 hours. That seems to be users, for which WUs have been validated in the past 24 hours. If you check the list of Top Participants, you'll find many more, who returned results in the past 24 hours. As explained in this thread, almost nothing will be validated until around mid February. As you can see here, over 1000 Milkyway WUs have been cruched in the past 24 hours just by those who also run WUprop, however according to our calculations over 1000 WUs are crunched every hour. Those few making announcements about abandoning Milkyway are not really making any noticeable differece, like on every other project where people feel the need to make a big announcement about them leaving because of some server hickup or temporary work shortage. Usually they also never miss to include details about their super expensive computers, which they bought specially for that project... So no, we are not on any kind of bottom, the number you see ist just the result of creating unusualy high amount of tasks by accident during server maintenance in combination with the fact, that the 2nd task needed for validation is created after the frist has been returned. |

Configured here properly , afaikProbably not, since there are lots of tasks available. First thing to check are your MilkyWay@home preferences. Make sure you have CPU, N-Body and just to be sure "other appliactions" enabled and GPUs disabled. Since there's just one application left, you probably can also delete all additional preferences for home/work/school. If everything was already configured like that, change something (for example disable "If no work for selected applications is available, accept work from other applications?") and save the changes just to get the server to "refresh" it and see if it than works. If you stil can't get any work, make a scheduler request with <work_fetch_debug> enabled in cc_config.xml. <cc_config> <log_flags> <work_fetch_debug>1</work_fetch_debug> </log_flags> </cc_config> |
