Hi guys, I have four projects on my Boinc: WCG, Asteroids, Rosetta and Milkyway, all CPU projects. I have an Intel i7. Currently, my Boinc is set to 50% max CPU usage and 30% CPU time. However, regardless of the settings, Milkyway tasks randomly stalling, This happens only for Milkyway tasks. Restarting the Boinc application will fix the issue. If I don't restart, the tasks will freeze permanently until I restart. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Is there an way to solve? Thanks in advance! |

i have exactly the same problem. i have multiple BOINC projects, and even run Folding@home on my computers, and only milkway gets stalled. The WU get stuck without progress at all. even closing boinc doesn't work. You need to actually shutdown your computer, and then the WU will work again. Tried and tested multiple times, the problem isn't BOINC, is Milkway that is bugged, and is bugged since years. I will drop the project, as a 24h cruncher i can't check every hour if my WU stall or not. |

As has been said in countless other threads, Milkyway's N-body application is not compatible with less than 100% of CPU time. Set it to 100% and it will run fine.

Nice! Thanks for the tip Link, I will do a last try with 100% cpu's time and monitor if the problem will ocurr again. |
