That is the one nice thing about running longer wu's ie: 10+ hours each... I know, that was the '+'. Don't have to worry about getting work to do. Some of them can take months to do on slower computers. I'm not that determined though, don't need to do all the work and then have a problem and loose it. Doesn't expecting the unexpected make the unexpected the expected? If it makes sense, DON'T do it. |

Update, SETI is, of course offline for their weekly Tuesday special event, but Einstein and POEM are back in business. However, Milkyway remains WU-less with no comment from Travis -- perhaps he was going to be vacationing in the Bahamas but due the the weather is instead, vacationing in Hartford.... I've attached to 11 projects over time -- two are no longer alive (Climate BBC and the evil Predictor). But for panic mode scenarios this morning: |

OK -- my read of the situation is that until Travis returns on site, we are going to be in a no work mode. I think Milkyway has been a bit more fragile than we users believe it to be and has required regular Travis-attention -- which he's provided to insulate us from the servers twitchiness. So, when he periodically needs to come up for air, we're left at the mercy of the servers fragility - in particular, the server (or server process) which generates work units appears to need a lot of care and feeding. As this project is not over-run with resources, I suppose we really shouldn't be surprised that a period of 'no Travis' means the a likely 'no work' scenario. For me at this point, it simply means other projects are sucking up the cycles. Not a big deal. |

I stopped by because I heard the project was giving out free food instead of work units. me@rescam.org |

Nah, you stopped by in search of a noise level to enhance <g>. Oh that's the basis of another project. But they can't seem to analyze their own data. Maybe I'm just picking nits. me@rescam.org |
