On my Q6600, *most* work completes in just over 1 hour, however, occasionally, I get work units that take 4, or 6, or even eight hours to complete.

I've noticed in the past that if I temporarily suspend a running workunit that appears to be running slower than normal, and then restart the work unit, it runs to completion in the normal fashion.

Anyone have any ideas? I can point you to a couple WU's it that will help...

I would check your core temps on your host. I have not seen the problem you are talking about. But if your host gets too warm it might be thermal throttling. And this would look just like what you described. CPU getting too hot, and throttling down, you suspend the WU, the CPU cools down, you un-suspend it and it runs normal speed.. that is until the CPU gets too hot again.

seems to have a lower bench mark than normal, this can occur during thermal throttling.

And not sure on the AMD Turions, I had a couple of those on laptop computers, and they always overheated and ended up in thermal throttle. Slowing down the entire CPU.

It's not just you who's come across some longer than normal tasks. I used to notice some significant deviations in 'time to completion' on my 1.4 GHz laptop. Some slightly longer tasks have appeared for my 2.4GHz Q6600, as well, although the deviations aren't quite as significant. Neither of those two computers have any issues with overheating.
