I'm terribly confused about the best (acceptable) optimized app. Yes, anything before v.12 is now bad by definition. I have deleted the app.xml file on all of my "miscreant" .07 hosts. When I deleted the app.xml file (and nothing else) and re enabled work, the files showed stock (after downloading files), i.e. Optimized .7, etc, plus new .12 files. Did I fix it? The WU still seem to run at the old (faster) rate. Do I need to abort the .7 WU or did I fix the problem? I guess I'll find out after 8pm EST (0100 UTC) won't I? You guys are doing good things. Keep it up! Rick |

I'm not quite sure what the process is to revert to our stock application after using an optimized one.. hopefully someone here has a good answer for you :) I'm going to sticky this so people see it. |

There are different ways: 1. Delete the optimized app and app.xml files with Boinc off. When restarted it will d/l the stock app. 2. 'Reset Project' I think Detatch & Reatach works as well if I remember. Doesn't expecting the unexpected make the unexpected the expected? If it makes sense, DON'T do it. |

How I do it: 1) Finish all tasks with a certain application, by setting the project to No New Work 2) Shut down BOINC - On Windows, this can be done using services - On Mac, just shut down the application - On Linux, I hope you know how you have it set up ;-) 3) Remove the app_info.xml from the data directory 4) Start BOINC again 5) Reset the project That should clear everything out. |

All you have to do is stop Boinc & then take out the Optimized Application & sse3.exe you put in the Milkyway Projects Folder. Then Re-Start BOINC and the Sever will send you the Stock Applicaton & .exc ... I did it that way earlier today & it worked for me ... :) |

Travis, you seem to have kept the .07 app on the server. That is a big plus (I think). It's not clear my cache is using it, but believe me, I'm trying. I want to give you useful results. I didn't detach/reattach. The WU list showed the "new" app (.07 stock) after I did what I did. I stopped BOINC, removed the app.xml file, and restarted. I didn't remove the old optimized app. My main problem is to assure BOINC that the WU won't run at 5 minutes, but 57 minutes. OK, I enable new work, get some stuff, then disable new work. So far so good. Of course whether this works awaits validation. I'm turning blue holding my breath waiting for the final decision! Rick |

Poor Boy: I just looked at my latest contribution to MW. It still looks like it's using the old "optimized" app (very fast), so I guess I need to delete it as well. Rick |

When I revert to the stock client/application I assume I will be downloading the Windows V12 stock client? |

Yep, that's what I saw. Future WU are .12 apps. Anything left from before seem to run under the old app (unless you delete it (I really need to do this)-I suspect it then has a conniption fit!) Hopefully Travis will give a bit more of a reprieve. I've only got a few more to go of what I think are OK apps, but have been declared deficient. Rick |

The last time I reset Apps. I just did a quick detach / reattach and it worked fine. I guess since the wu's that I've got are still validating I'll stay with the .07 App. till it stops? I guess since the wu's that I've got are still validating I'll stay with the .07 App. till it stops? That was my assumption. But I think Dave will be bringin in the new script later today, as he has now made the Windos V13 client available (at least that is the way I am taking it). If this is so, then credit validation is as was, and has yet to move on sometime today. |

The EST time is now just past 09.15am, which suggests Dave, et al, are in the lab now. I wonder from when the assimilator/validator script, to detect wrong results, will be run? |

The EST time is now just past 09.15am, which suggests Dave, et al, are in the lab now. I'm just waiting on Dave to put the latest windows app on the server. After that goes live I'll make the swap over to only accepting WUs from validly compiled apps. After a couple days of that so I can make sure the error detection is working correctly and doesn't prevent valid apps from getting credit, that will go live. |

The EST time is now just past 09.15am, which suggests Dave, et al, are in the lab now. Does that mean that wu's after that wont work or that wu's ISSUED after that wont work? EDIT: If wu's ISSUED after that wont work I'll set to NNW,.. thats why I ask. A clear conscience is usually the sign of a bad memory |

It looks like the server script effects took place around 3.40am to 3.45am UTC this morning. |
